  11. High turnouts across Londonpublished at 00:33 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2019

BBC London correspondents are reporting higher than usual turnout in London counts.

Londoners normally turnout to vote in greater numbers than the national average. The capital saw a 70.1% of eligible voters turning out in 2017 compared to 68.8% across the UK.

Turnout in Putney is now reported as 77.4%, up from 72% in 2017.

Battersea turnout 75.8% compared to 71% in 2017.

"Feels like an angry remain vote talking," BBC London's Political Editor Tim Donovan said.

But more votes to count normally means later results. We could be in for a long night.

  13. Which London seats could change hands?published at 00:12 Greenwich Mean Time 13 December 2019

Promo image of map with arrows

There is no fixed definition of a marginal.

Fourteen seats in London could be decided by a 5% swing in votes.

Just over 400 votes decided the Conservative seats of Richmond Park and Chipping Barnet, and Labour's Kensington seat in 2017.

But a tactical voting campaign led by the so-called "remain alliance" parties, are hoping to take down some of the Conservative big beasts in London.

The Green Party candidate stood down in Chingford and Woodford Green to help Labour try to unseat former Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith.

While the Lib Dems are confident of taking Esher and Walton, held foreign secretary Dominic Raab, to the wire.

At the last election London was the jewel in Labour’s crown, delivering the party’s largest vote share in at least 25 years.

It is also Labour's power base - home to Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn's Islington constituency, alongside the shadow chancellor, shadow home secretary, and shadow foreign secretary.

Changing demographics have seen the Conservative vote share drop by ten points since 1992.

But the Conservatives won 21 London seats at the last election, including Prime Minister Boris Johnson's seat of Uxbridge and South Ruislip.

For the Lib Dems, it was one of only two regions in which their vote share increased.

London also recorded the largest increase in turnout of all the nine English regions.
