Members of the Clinton team have been fighting back against the suggestion that the candidate would reverse her position on the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a trade agreement vilified by many Bernie Sanders supporters.
Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe who is a close personal friend of the Clintons, said in an interview, external with Politico last night that Mrs Clinton would eventually approve the bill after some editing. Mrs Clinton and her running mate, Tim Kaine, both oppose the TPP after having initially supporting it. For Mrs Clinton, it was a rare break with the Obama administration.
Governor McAuliffe later explained that he was expressing hope that Mrs Clinton would change her mind, and that he had "no expectation" that she actually would.
