    Royal Blood on winning British group: "This is a huge surprise for us, probably more of a surprise for everyone here as you may not even know who we are. This is huge, so thank you."

    Little Mix are having a night off from the long slog making their third album to attend tonight's awards - but the end is in sight.

    "The album is finished. It's written," Jesy told us. "We've just got to record it now. We're so excited about bringing it out. It's coming in the summer."

    "The single is going to go to radio very soon," added Jade. "It is literally completely different to anything we've done before."

    Apparently being allowed out of the studio feels a bit like being on a school trip.

    "We're a little bit nervous," admitted Jade. "We pulled up and we're like, 'oh gosh, it's been so long since we did a red carpet. I've forgotten how to smile!'"

    They're responsible for one of the most famous Brits moments ever and Spice Girls stars Mel C and Emma Bunton have turned up to this year's ceremony together.

    "You've got to keep me away from Kanye," Mel C told us. "If he starts getting up and getting out of hand... this is the Brits."

    "You know what she's like," added Emma. "Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough."

    Mel's also got a theory on the gender imbalance in the main categories.

    "We've been really spoiled with female acts over the last few years and it's a natural thing that a lot of the girls aren't out at the moment. Maybe they're working on new material.

    "I'm surprised Ellie Goulding isn't up for anything but maybe she didn't fit into the timeframe... You have to have something new out to be nominated. But she had a an amazing year last year.

    "But the girls will rise again. Definitely."

    US indie rockers War On Drugs admitted they weren't au fait with the Brit Awards before they got a nomination for best international group.

    "I think I'd maybe heard of it in passing," singer Adam Granduciel told us, "but no, not really."

    The band said they were almost 100% inspired by British artists though - like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and Pink Floyd.

    "Growing up in America, wanting to play music as a kid, nothing beats British music."

    Granduciel said he doesn't have a speech ready if the band win. "But my one goal is that I get the walk-off music."

    And if Kanye storms the stage? "He'd better have his boxing gloves ready."

    Adam Lambert can't wait to see Madonna perform tonight, but he's having a well-earned rest.

    "We played Wembley Arena last night [with Queen]. The audience was on fire," he told us.

    But he has his own solo album, The Original High, coming soon. "It's very different than the Queen music. It's definitely a pop album with a lot of R&B, house music influences. But the songwriting is timeless."

    But he says this doesn't spell the end for his Queen collaboration. "We have some other things we're going to be doing. It's not the end. It's just a pause button."
