    Instagram user Abby Harris has put up a post showing heavy snowfall at the Edgbaston Reservoir near central Birmingham.

    About 230 schools across Shropshire will stay closed on Monday, due to the heavy snowfall and icy temperatures.

    With temperatures set to fall well below 0C, Shropshire Council promises to "keep people moving" and care for its "most vulnerable residents", but has urged all other staff in non-essential services not to travel to work on Monday.

  11. 37 schools closures in Denbighshirepublished at 20:19 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017

    Denbighshire County Council has announced that 37 schools will be closed on Monday as a result of heavy snowfall.

    In a statement, it says the majority of schools south of the A55 will be closed.

    It says there will be no school transport in the south of the county and that this will impact on the number of schools that may open.

    I landed at Heathrow, on the already delayed BA 385 flight from Dublin, but we are still on the tarmac.The captain says planes ahead of us have been waiting several hours for a docking stand as empty aircraft have not been moved on, leaving hundreds of passengers unable to disembark. Ground services are "working on the problem", but the captain admitted he has no idea how long it will be before the situation is resolved and we can get off.

    Everyone on board is reasonably cheerful, all things considered.

    Heathrow Airport says a number of Sunday's flight delays and cancellations were caused by airlines needing to ensure their aircraft were de-iced before operation.
