A dog has been rescued from freezing conditions in rural Cambridgeshire by a roads policing unit.In a post on Twitter, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit said the lost animal would likely not have survived the night, but was now headed to "a warm, safe place to be cared for properly" while its owners are traced.

Network Rail says it is fallen trees that have led to the cancellation of trains between Birmingham and Bristol (both directions) and not a landslide as CrossCountry Trains tweeted (see entry at 16:50 GMT).

The Port of Dover has said that its services to the French port of Calais have resumed.
It said that the 1820 service will be delayed by an hour, however.

Network Rail say, on Twitter, that the Oxford-Worcester service is currently suspended due to poor weather conditions.
It said that because the snow was also affecting the road network, there would be no replacement road service.

Heavy snow to give way to 'more settled conditions'published at 16:46 Greenwich Mean Time 10 December 2017
The Met Office has said the "heaviest snow has fallen", with snow showers set to fade on Sunday night.However, temperatures will remain "very cold", particularly in areas of lying snow, where temperatures could still drop as low as -12C (10F).
Chief Meteorologist Steve Ramsdale said the accumulation of snow and the threat of ice could still cause some disruption to the start of the working week.
"After a cold night there is likely to be ice in areas that have settled snow and also in parts of the south east where rain pushes in from the southeast,” he added.
