People shed a tear at Prince Harry's speech during the afternoon reception, says Suhani Jalota, founder of the India-based Myna Mahila charity.

The charity, which provides affordable feminine hygiene products to women living in poverty, is among those chosen by the couple to receive donations from guests as an alternative to wedding gifts.

The speech was lovely, she says.

"Some people were even crying. I think it was just a very, really nice atmosphere to be in where everybody felt really loved.

"Essentially, it was just about how Harry was as a child and growing up. And now just about the couple and how beautiful they are together."

There was also a round of applause - in typical fashion - for Harry's first mention of his "wife".

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has described the wedding service as having a "most extraordinary" sense of intimacy, despite being watched by millions.

"It did feel when doing the vows that it was just the three of us... It was very close, very personal, very intimate and very beautiful," he added.

He also lent his support to the vows, which he called "unconventional by royal standards".

"But it had passion and if you don't have passion at a wedding when will you have passion?" he said.
