Judi James said: "Donald Trump is more inhibited when he's shaking hands with the Queen.

"He was leaning forward from a distance, with a tentative pawing of her hand."

She added: "It's hilarious - watching the size differentiation between them is comedy gold.

"His huge hand was enveloping her tiny one. But she was quite happy, chuckling and laughing."

  18. Politicians criticising Trump 'damaging' for UK - ministerpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 3 June 2019

    The World at One
    BBC Radio 4

Foreign Office Minister Sir Alan Duncan says that for politicians to speak out against Donald Trump's visit is "damaging" for the UK.

“Yes [the US] have got a controversial president…but to respond to that by protesting against him, apart from being rude, is ill judged," he tells BBC Radio 4's World at One.

He adds that giving the US President a "dignified welcome" is "a very important statement".

“We are going through our own difficult time and to have a president who is looking to us and being supportive to us is, I think, very welcome," he says.

“I think the politicians who are turning against the president are behaving in a way that over time will do us as the UK, but also them as effective politicians, a lot of damage."

  19. Trump 'enables far right politics' - shadow ministerpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 3 June 2019

    The World at One
    BBC Radio 4

Shadow treasury minister Clive Lewis says it is a "big mistake" to "roll out the red carpet for Donald Trump".

The Labour MP - who will be attending protests against the visit tomorrow - tells BBC Radio 4's World at One: “I think it’s really important tomorrow that we send a clear statement to Donald Trump that people in this country, thousands if not millions of us, have a real issue with much of the politics that he is espousing during his presidency."

He adds: “This isn’t a protest against America, this isn’t a protest against the institution of the president of America, this is a protest against Donald Trump.

“There is a growing tide of far right, anti-democratic politics that is a threat to our democracy.

“Whether Donald Trump is a fascist or not, he is certainly an enabler of those politics."
