  1. US audiences 'fascinated' by Royal Familypublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 3 June 2019

    Jon Sopel
    BBC North America Editor

The BBC's North America editor Jon Sopel says US audiences are "fascinated" by the Royal Family, rather than UK politics.

He says pictures of Mr Trump's arrival at Buckingham Palace are being broadcast across US TV Networks and will be going down "very well".

He adds that this is not a "normal" state visit as Mr Trump has "repeatedly shown the rule book is there to be torn up" and he "says what's on his mind".

The first 41-gun salute honoured Mr Trump's state visit.

The second round of 41 shots were staged to mark the 66th anniversary of the Queen's coronation on Sunday.

  11. 'What else would Sadiq Khan expect?'published at 12:11 British Summer Time 3 June 2019

    Victoria Derbyshire

A supporter of the president has argued that London Mayor Sadiq Khan should not have been surprised that Mr Trump kicked off his UK visit by calling him a "stone cold loser".

Daniel Mcilhiney told the Victoria Derbyshire programme the mayor was just as much to blame for the war of words with the US president.

Oh and yes, that is the infamous baby blimp sat behind Mr Mcilhiney in the studio.

Its so-called babysitter, Anna Vickerstaff, says Mr Khan had "every right" to call out Mr Trump for "supporting fascism".

  15. Crowds gather outside Buckingham Palacepublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 3 June 2019

    Gary O'Donoghue
    Washington Correspondent

Hundreds have gathered outside Buckingham Palace to glimpse the arrival of Marine One bringing the president and the First Lady for lunch with the Queen and other members of the "firm."

All morning we've had a steady stream of pundits and politicians, journalists and royal watchers clambering their way over the cables to talk to broadcasters from all around the world.

At one point, Lib Dem leader Sir Vince Cable is challenged on his decision not to attend tonight's banquet.

Afterwards, he tells me he'll probably have dinner at home instead, "maybe fish fingers" he says, chuckling.

As well as the great and the good, the police sniffer dogs have been here too.

A busy cute little thing did a good deal of panting around our bag of sandwiches and crisps.

"He quite likes chocolate" said his female handler.

I cannot help wondering what he would make of the lunch about to be served across the road.
