    The Book Case in Hebden Bridge has closed its doors and moved stock from the lower shelves in case the shop is flooded again.

    It's been badly hit before, and has previously installed a sign which acts as a flood barrier.

    Clearly, it's belt and braces today though.

  3. Coastguard issues wave watcher warningpublished at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2020

    These wave watchers in Meadfoot, Devon, got a bit more than they bargained for this morning.

    Torbay Coastguard said it had issued advice to those caught in the onslaught of a wave breaking over a wall.

    “Even with high tide slacking off, there’s lots of debris in the water including large rocks,” the coastguard added.

    Earlier we told you about various matches in England that have been cancelled - several Scottish football fixtures have also been hit by the poor weather.

    Both the Rangers v Livingston and the Motherwell v St Mirren Premiership matches have been cancelled due to waterlogged pitches.

  10. 'Busy day' for Army in Calderdalepublished at 12:54 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2020

    The Army is out helping officials with flood relief efforts in West Yorkshire.

    The Ministry of Defence (MoD) says 75 members of 4th Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland, is helping to construct barriers and repair flood defences in Ilkley and Calderdale.

    Another 70 reservists from 4th Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment, will provide support where required.

    Military assistance is expected to last throughout the day.

    The latest is the League One football match between Rochdale AFC and Tranmere Rovers - it has been postponed because the pitch is waterlogged.

    A rearranged date for the match has not yet been announced.

  15. Rescue operation off Margate Harbourpublished at 11:58 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2020

    HM Coastguard is searching for a man reported to have gone overboard from a vessel near Margate, Kent.

    It received a call from the boat shortly after 05:40 GMT.

    The search and rescue operation involves RNLI lifeboats, a police boat, and a Royal Navy vessel - as well as a helicopter.

    It is not clear whether the incident is related to conditions caused by Storm Dennis.

    Heather Shepherd, from the charity National Flood Forum, advises people on how to recover from flooding.

    She says it can be a very tiring and emotional time for many of those affected.

    "It's not a quick process. Often we hear people's expectations not managed, where they assume they might be [back] in after a couple of months.

    "But really, on average, people are out of their homes for 16 to 18 months and often well beyond this time as well."

    Travel disruption for those hoping to catch a flight today continues as British Airways tells BBC News that 40 flights to and from Heathrow have been cancelled.

    Helena Wilkinson, BBC news correspondent, says that BA have said they are not expecting to ground any flights tomorrow.

    Meanwhile, EasyJet has cancelled 234 flights to, from and within the UK - affecting at least 40,000 passengers.

    "It couldn't have come at a worst time," Ms Wilkinson, reporting from Gatwick Airport, EasyJet's main base, says.

    "Families are trying to get away for the half term break and many of them are turning up here realising their flights - mainly later on and tonight - are cancelled."

    She adds that today there is "absolutely huge disruption if you're trying to get on a plane".
