    Any snow showers should fade to leave a dry but increasingly cloudy afternoon.

    We have been checking for school closures in the Bedford Borough, external and Luton Borough, external areas and so far none have been reported.

    Several schools in Luton say they may close early if conditions worsen, so parents are advised to check with their school.

    So far we only know of one school or college closure in Central Bedfordshire, external.

    The Central Bedfordshire College, in Dunstable, will be closed all day, due to the cold weather.

    It is planning on opening again on Friday, but the college is asking students to check social media, external or its website, external.

  7. Luton Airport open - but delays and cancellations expectedpublished at 08:16 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2018

    Luton Airport says it plans to operate as normal today - but has issued a warning of expected delays and cancellations because of the freezing conditions elsewhere.

    Officials are advising passengers to check with their airline for the latest status of their flight and allow extra time for travel.

    However, Easyjet has announced a number of disruptions to departures, external and arrivals from several European cities - and the main Scottish airports where the Met office red alert is in place.

    Snowy conditions in the north of Cambridgeshire are causing problems again on the A1.

    It's currently partially blocked because of a crash at Wittering, police are warning.

  9. Abandoned and stranded cars causing blockages on roads in Norfolkpublished at 08:01 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2018

    More than 20 cars are stuck on the A146 at Stockton, north of Beccles, blocking the road.

    Stranded cars in other parts of Norfolk are now becoming a hazard for emergency services, police have said.

    Matt Worden, from the county council's highways department, said although it is not snowing the remaining snow from yesterday on fields, open spaces and the tops of buildings is being whipped up by strong winds and building drifts that are adding to difficulties.

  10. Greater Anglia cancels more than 104 trains across regionpublished at 08:00 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2018

    Train operator Greater Anglia is once again warning of disruption to its services across the east of England because of the freezing weather.

    So far, 104 trains have been cancelled.

    All three of Suffolk's mobile libraries are not heading out today, the county council says.

    Libraries in Kedington, Lavenham and Stoke Library are going to remain closed all day.

    Amended opening times are in place at the following libraries:

    • Beccles is opening at 11:00
    • Bury is opening at 10:00
    • Brandon is opening at 11:30
    • Broomhill is opening at 11:00
    • Bungay is opening at 09:30 and closing early at 13:00
    • Framlingham is closing early at 12:30
    • Haverhill is opening at 10:00 and closing early at 17:00
    • Newmarket is opening at 10:00
    • Stowmarket is opening at 10:00
    • Sudbury is opening at 10:00

    A few schools have announced they will be closed today in the Peterborough area.

    So far, they are:

    • Brewster Avenue Infant and Nursery School
    • St. Augustine's CofE Junior School

    It's a busy day again in the BBC Radio Suffolk studios, with listeners calling in to report snow-related issues.

    Here's what we've been told recently:

    • A vehicle is blocking the road between Snape and Orford
    • The A12 between Saxmundham and Benhall is blocked
    • A145 London Road blocked due to snow between Mill Lane (Shadingfield) and Low Road (Brampton).

    More than 300 schools are now closed across Essex because of access issues, freezing temperatures and icy conditions.

  18. Snow causing problems in Suffolkpublished at 07:29 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2018

    Road users are reporting problems on the A140 at Needham Market, Suffolk.

    It's blocked both ways due to drifting snow between the A14 at junction 51 and the A143 Scole.

    We've also been contacted by people saying Alderton is "cut off" due to the snow, and there are reports of a few cars stuck in Witnesham.

  19. Latest from Suffolk Police on A14 eastboundpublished at 07:14 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2018

    The A14 eastbound remains closed at junction 58 from Seven Hills at Nacton due to sudden mass accumulations of snow that were catching drivers out, Suffolk Police says.

    Other minor routes to Felixstowe are also blocked by snow.

    At 04:15 this morning officers were informed that the A144 at Bramfield near Halesworth was blocked.

    At 05:00 police were notified that the A12 between Blythburgh and Wangford was blocked, with snow reported to be up to 18in deep. HGVs are currently blocking the road south of Blythburgh preventing access to the area.

    A handful of schools have announced intentions to close today across Cambridgeshire.

    So far they are:

    • Beeches Primary School, Peterborough
    • The Village College and the Centre school, Cottenham
    • Gorefield Primary, near Wisbech
    • Kirkstone House, Baston
    • Sir Harry Smith School, Whittlesey
