An official complaint has been made to Thames Valley Police over the amount of time it took to investigate an allegedly racist attack in Bletchley, in which a woman lost her unborn twin babies.

    Bletchley rally

The 34-year-old Somalian woman was attacked outside the Co-op on Water Eaton Road last month. A 37-year-old man from Milton Keynes, arrested on suspicion of racially-aggravated assault, has been released on bail until November.

At a rally this weekend, the victim's lawyer Attiq Malik said it took five weeks for the police to make an appeal for information.

He said: "The family are absolutely traumatised, everyone's concerned about why it took so long for somebody to be arrested...

"From that flow a number of questions about the investigation process and that's what I've posed to them at this stage and that is all coming from the family because they want answers."

Thames Valley Police has not yet commented.
