    The fire service have confirmed one man has been injured after an accident on the A413 in Weedon close to Aylesbury. 

    The road is currently closed in both directions at the New Road junction.

    There are currently long delays on the M1 northbound at J13 (Bedford) because of an earlier accident involving four vehicles. 

    One lane is now open past the accident but delays are currently back to J12 (Flitwick).

    So the number of people being caught using their mobile phones in Beds and Herts is decreasing, but in the Thames Valley area it's a different picture.

    Last year police caught 10,103 people, which is more than any other force outside of London - the figures have hardly dropped over the past five years. 

    Ch Insp Henry Parsons, for the roads policing team at TVP, says as they have a large roads policing team it's a crime they can "focus" on.

    Figures obtained by the BBC reveal that the number of drivers caught using their mobile phone behind the wheel in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire has dropped by more than half in the last five years. 

    Over the last year Bedfordshire police caught 730 drivers, the figure was 1,607 in 2010/11. 

    In Hertfordshire, it was 3,389 in 2010/11 but last year it was 1,652.

    The leader of Central Bedfordshire Council has defended plans for a development in Houghton Regis, fronted by footballers Rio Ferdinand, Mark Noble and Bobby Zamora.

    James Jamieson says reports of 1,300 houses are incorrect and there will be "somewhere between 0 and 1,000" properties.

    He was speaking after residents reacted with concern to a report in the Guardian, external.

    He said: "This is a real opportunity to do something really interesting and exciting for Houghton Regis.

    "We have 22 hectares there, we have some committed footballers, they are committed to doing something that will improve the community of Houghton Regis and that's what this is all about."

    Residents in Houghton Regis have raised concerns over a proposed new development fronted by famous footballers.

    The Kingsland proposal, external to build homes alongside a new state of the art sports academy is being backed by Central Bedfordshire Council and fronted by former England captain Rio Ferdinand, Mark Noble and Bobby Zamora.

    Pat Hamill, who has lived in Houghton Regis for 44 years, said: "Everyone's squashed into Luton, you can't move about in Luton, the traffic is so heavy... and I don't want Houghton Regis to become something similar to Luton."

    Other residents have told the BBC the area couldn't take more houses because they "hadn't got the facilities for them" and the scheme wasn't in the best interests of the area.

    We'll be hearing from the council later but it has told us that it is in the very early stages of drawing up proposals with developers and images that have appeared in national newspapers, external are not of plans for the site.

    We've asked the developers for a comment.

    This morning I'll be talking to former Milton Keynes man Nick Brace whose 19-week-old daughter will die without a heart transplant.

    Nick Brace said his daughter Marnie was born on 10 May with a "very severe" heart problem which doctors believe may be due to a rare genetic condition.

    Her parents have been told her only hope is a heart transplant, a complex and risky procedure with no guarantees.

    The A421 southbound is blocked between Marsh Leys roundabout in Bedford and the Beancroft Road junction in Marston Moretaine due to an earlier accident.

    Recovery work is under way but our reporter Alex Pope is currently stuck in the queue. While parked up, she said it was moving very, very slowly.

    Yesterday we told you that police were "extremely concerned" about "vulnerable" teenager with learning difficulties missing from Bedfordshire.

    Today we can tell you the good news that 16-year-old Adam Clough from Sandy has been found safe and well.

    He went missing after leaving home at 07:00 on Monday and Bedfordshire Police say he was found in Bristol on Tuesday afternoon.
