    That's it, folks. Lots happening in the three counties today, including news that Luton Town FC has purchased the freehold of its new site and that water supplies are still off in parts of Luton and Dunstable. Repairs are being carried out.

    The news was not so great for rail users after the government announced access improvements for Luton railway station would not go ahead before 2020. 

    Stevenage station has been luckier, though, with money forthcoming in this round of funding.

    Plans for improvements at Luton railway station have been deferred until after 2019 due to funding problems.

    The MP for Luton South, Gavin Shuker, tweeted earlier that he'd received a letter from transport minister Paul Maynard saying that after discussions with Network Rail it had been decided to delay the Access for All programme which would have funded the work.

    The government says it's still committed to the project but has had to make choices over which stations to proceed with.

    The letter said it hoped more money would be available after 2019. 

    Funding of £578,000 for new lifts for Stevenage station will go ahead.

    The jury deciding on the case of a former pediatrician accused of child sex offences is still out.

    Jurors will return tomorrow for a fifth day of deliberations. 

    Michael Salmon, 81, from Salisbury, Wiltshire, is accused of 26 offences alleged to have taken place at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in the 1970s and 1980s.

    Mr Salmon denies all the charges, pleading not guilty to one count of rape and 25 indecent assaults involving 18 women and one man, who were children at the time of the alleged offences.

    It looks like Luton Town FC is a step closer to achieving its aim of relocating to Power Court in the town.

    The club announced this afternoon on its website, external that it had agreed to purchase the freehold of a derelict site of a former power station from owners British Land.

    Contracts have been exchanged between the two parties with existing 2020 Development shareholders funding the purchase as an advance.

  8. Chinese President Xi-visit pub could inspire chain in Chinapublished at 16:43 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    A village pub visited by Chinese President Xi Jinping and then-Prime Minister David Cameron could be the model for a chain of pubs across China.

    Chinese investment firm SinoFortone has bought The Plough at Cadsden, near Princes Risborough in Buckinghamshire.

    Mr Cameron took Mr Xi there during the state visit to the UK in October 2015.

    Peter Zhang, managing director of SinoFortone, said the English pub concept with fish and chips and beer was growing "very fast" in China.

    The Plough, which dates back to the 16th Century, shot to fame in China when the president ate fish and chips and drank a pint during his state visit.

    Buses now ferry hundreds of Chinese tourists from London to the country pub.

  9. Pensioner 'devastated' at theft of 'sentimental' jewellerypublished at 15:57 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    Hertfordshire Police says a woman burgled in Bricket Wood, near St Albans, no longer feels safe in her own home after thieves took cash and jewellery during a break-in last month.

    It has issued pictures of some of the stolen items in an attempt to trace them.

    Between 11:45 and 12:55 on Monday, 7 November, thieves smashed a side window to get into the woman's home in Oakwood Road.

    Among the items taken were a pearl earring and necklace set, a gold cross on a gold chain, a gold necklace and a long pearl necklace.

    Det Con Rhys Tom said: "The elderly victim is devastated that her sentimental jewellery has been stolen. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area between the times stated who may have seen something suspicious to please come forward and talk to me."

    Water supplies have been cut off in parts of Dunstable and Luton. 

    Affinity Water says technicians are on their way to investigate as there have been a number of calls from the area. 

    It's not yet clear how many properties are affected.

    The water company is advising people not to use any electrical appliances that use water while the supply is interrupted.

  15. Fire cancels Christmas for High Wycombe Rugby Clubpublished at 12:52 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    A major fire at the clubhouse for High Wycombe Rugby Club means all activities have had to be cancelled, external until Christmas and possibly into the New Year. 

    It's thought an electrical fault is to blame.

    The club says it needs to assess the damage, get in specialist cleaning services and carry out repair work.

    Fire engulfed a car paint and body shop at Valley Road Industrial Estate in St Albans last night.

    At the fire's height, 10 fire engines and other vehicles were at the scene where half the two-storey building was ablaze.

    It caused disruption for people driving home as police had to close the road.

    Firefighters were called at 18:00 and had put out the fire by 20:00. The cause is believed to have been accidental.

  18. Man still in critical condition after Luton shootingpublished at 10:13 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    Police say a man shot in Luton 10 days ago is still in a stable, but critical condition. 

    The Bedfordshire force is re-appealing for information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting in Marlow Avenue at about 17:00 on Saturday, 26 November.

    A man in his late 20s has been arrested and released on police bail.

  19. Pedestrian dies after Offley collisionpublished at 09:48 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    Hertfordshire Police says that a pedestrian injured in a collision with a vehicle near Offley died at the scene.

    It happened on Friday, but detectives had been waiting to release details until they had contacted the family of David Davies, 39, from Stevenage.

    They have released an appeal for information to establish the circumstances of the crash on the A505 eastbound at about 19:00.

  20. Milton Keynes homelessness planpublished at 09:28 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2016

    Milton Keynes Council, external will reveal a 12-point plan to tackle homelessness tonight. 

    The plans to be announced today include 10 extra emergency beds for the over 35s and the creation of a one-stop shop providing showers, a café and support for mental health, drug and alcohol issues.

    The measures are projected to cost the council £300,000.

    Three homeless people have died on the streets of Milton Keynes this year. 

    In September, the Labour-led council set up a Homelessness Partnership to try to prevent further deaths.
