It had been widely rumoured since the Wolves takeover was announced last week that Moxey would move to join Norwich, in a similar position.

At Monday’s press conference, the representative of Wolves’ new owners Fosun International, Jeff Shi, said that he had attempted unsuccessfully to persuade Moxey to stay.

He has often been the subject of criticism from a section of Wolves fans but it is impossible to judge precisely how big a proportion that is.

However, there are also plenty of Wolves supporters who have noted his achievements and his negotiating skills over transfer fees have often drawn positive comment.

He will join Norwich after overseeing the takeover – a three-month transition period was mentioned on Monday, but there is no exact timescale given in today’s announcement.  The two clubs are due to meet at Molineux on 1 October – will Moxey be wearing a gold and black scarf that day, or a green and yellow one?
