    Two people have had jewellery stolen in distraction techniques say police.

    West Midlands Police, external say the vicitms were "duped" earlier this week in Wolverhampton.

    They were stopped by women passengers in a car asking for directions. 

    Once the member of the public had helped direct them, the women placed cheap necklaces around their neck to thank them, but then remove their victim’s jewellery in the process.

    We'll be looking at the lengthy saga of the families of Birmingham pub bombings victims who are trying to get legal aid funding ahead of reopened inquests. 

    It's emerged one application for legal aid has been granted for a family represented by a law firm based in Liverpool. 

    But the Belfast law firm which represents eight other families has had an application refused. 

    Two pubs destroyed

    It's because the Legal Aid Agency, which handles the funding applications, doesn't have contracts with law firms outside England and Wales.

    The Birmingham Pub Bombings families look set to get legal aid for the new inquests

    One family has had a legal aid request granted but others were denied. 

    The family which has had legal aid approved is represented by Liverpool-based Broudie Jackson Canter. 

    However a Belfast law firm, KRW, has made an application on behalf of eight other families.

    This was refused because the Legal Aid Agency, which handles the funding applications, does not have contracts with law firms outside England and Wales. 

    The Legal Aid Agency has suggested KRW comes to an arrangement with Broudie Jackson Canter where it applies for funding on its behalf.

    Legal aid applications on behalf of the ten other families have not yet been received.

    A play that tells the story of the former Wolverhampton MP Enoch Powell's 'Rivers of Blood' speech will have its world premiere in Birmingham later. 

    'What Shadows' is on at the Birmingham Rep, external until 12 November. 

    It stars Olivier and Tony Award-winning actor, Ian McDiarmid who will be playing Stechford born Enoch Powell.

    The families of those who died in the Birmingham pub bombings have had one request for legal aid granted, ahead of new inquests.

    It's a few days before preliminary hearings are due to be held and Birmingham MPs have criticised the timing of the decision.

    The legal aid application doesn't cover all the families involved. Twenty-one people died in the attacks in 1974 and all of their names were read out in Parliament last night.

    A teenager and a man have been taken to hospital with stab wounds following disorder in Birmingham city centre.

    Police say they were called to Hurst Street in Birmingham city centre just before 05:00 this morning.

    West Midlands Police say , externalthe stab injuries are "not life-threatening."

    A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance said: "We treated two men. One was a teenager with injuries to his arm and face. One was a man with injuries to his legs. They were both taken to hospital."

    Officers are examining CCTV and want anyone with information to come forward.

    Masked men have stolen a car after "threatening" a woman in Wombourne and demanding the keys. , external

    Staffordshire Police say two men went up to her as she was outside her house on Common Road last night.

    Officers say they demanded the keys and the 43-year-old handed them over before the pair drove off with the white BMW which also contained her handbag and phone. 

    The force says the woman was unhurt but shocked.
