"He’ll be gone by January!" - They were the thoughts of a reporter who attended Walter Zenga’s first press conference on 1 August.
At the time, the claim was bold if not outrageous. Now the statement looks far too generous towards the new owners of Wolverhampton Wanderers and their patience.
After all they removed Kenny Jackett to put Zenga in charge.
The bare facts are that Walter Zenga lasted for 87 days and 17 games.
While Wolves are 18th in the Championship table they have only played 14 games in a 46 match season.
They are seven points from the play-offs and four points from the relegation. So there’s all to play for.
