    After scoring his sixth goal of the season in Walsall's Checkatrade Trophy win at Leicester, Amadou Bakayoko is reaping the rewards for listening to the club's coaching staff, says boss Jon Whitney.

    Bakayoko, 20, has hit five of his goals in the competition prompting Whitney to sing his praises.

  2. Halloween bikers: Do you have footage of 'dangerous spectacle'?published at 15:52 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2016

    Police say they are "determined" to track down people involved in the incident that saw 200 bikers "ride amok" on public roads on Halloween. 

    West Midlands Police are appealing, external to anyone that may have footage on their phones or dash-cams to come forward. 

    Two people have already been charged and three more men have been arrested on suspicion of bike theft and attacking a police van.

    Armed officers were involved in a two-and-a-half hour stand-off in Darlaston in the early hours of this morning. 

    Police were called to Charles Foster Street to reports of a man threatening to harm a woman and having a bladed weapon. 

    A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and using violence to secure entry.

    Schoolchildren from underprivileged communities in the Black Country are to receive support to help them try to become doctors. 

    The scheme, paid for by the former Aston Villa chairman Doug Ellis, will lead to 20 becoming students at Aston University when the new medical school opens in 2018.

    A firearms team has been called in to help at an address on Lea Hall Road, Kitts Green.

    They were called in at 08:30 this morning.

    Police say they were making a routine arrest, but a man inside the property "refused to co-operate" with police. 

    West Midlands Police say officers are attempting to "resolve the situation peacefully".

    Villa are unbeaten in five games under new boss Steve Bruce.

    Meanwhile, teammate Gabby Agbonlahor missed a penalty as Villa's under 23's lost 3-0 to Celtic last night. 

    Tommy Elphick, Aly Cissokho and Aaron Tishbola also featured in the opening game of the Premier League International Cup.

    We've had the 'ice bucket challenge', 'extreme ironing' and now to the latest social media craze, the 'mannequin challenge.' 

    If you haven't seen it already it's where groups of people hold a pose and stay incredibly still while they're being filmed. 

    Not surprisingly, local students have been getting in on the action. Take a look at this effort from students at Aston University.

    More than 140 new homes are expected to be built on the site of the former Royal Hospital in Wolverhampton. 

    Planning permission has been granted by the city council for some of the land. 

    The major redevelopment of part of Wolverhampton city centre is expected to bring new jobs as well as housing to the district.

    National League side Solihull Moors have appointed former Ipswich, Birmingham and Norwich striker Keith Bertschin as their new head coach.

    The 60-year-old replaces Marcus Bignot, who left to take over League Two club Grimsby Town on Monday.

    His first match in charge of the Moors, who are 15th in the table, will be Saturday's home game against Dover.  

  17. Calls for plaque outside Pebble Millpublished at 09:39 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November 2016

    A group is campaigning for a blue plaque to be erected to remember the history of Pebble Mill. 

    The site was the home of the BBC's television studios in Birmingham for almost 35 years, but closed in 2004.

    At the moment, there's nothing there to commemorate its TV heritage, but the group which includes former BBC producers and directors want to change that.   

    The studios have been demolished and now a dental hospital stands in its place.
