    West Brom chairman John Williams has revealed he tried to persuade outgoing chief executive Mark Jenkins to stay.

    Jenkins is ending 14 years at the Hawthorns next month, saying the change of ownership is a natural moment to go.

    He'll be replaced by Stoke City's Chief Financial Officer Martin Goodman.

    The figures showing the latest number of weapons surrendered across Birmingham and the Black Country has been released.

    More than 140 weapons have been handed in.

    Among the items was a zombie knife and three swords.

    The road junction collapsed under the weight of the flooding.

  4. Suspect in Paris and Brussels bombings allegedly given cash in Birmingham parkpublished at 13:58 Greenwich Mean Time 24 November 2016

    One of the suspects in the Paris and Brussels terrorism attacks was given £3,000 in a secret meeting in Birmingham months before the killings, a jury has heard. 

    Kingston Crown Court was told Mohammed Abrini - the so-called "Man in the Hat" - came to England in July 2015 and was given the cash in a Birmingham Park. 

    Zakaria Boufassil, 26, denies preparing for acts of terrorism by handing over the cash. A second man, Mohammed Ali Ahmed, has already pleaded guilty to the same offence.

    The train operator London Midland says it has been forced to intervene after a surge in passengers travelling without tickets at Rugeley, Staffordshire.

    The town's station is close to the large Amazon warehouse and there are concerns that some workers aren't buying tickets. 

    Francis Thomas from London Midland (featured in video) says Revenue Protection Officers have been deployed.

    Amazon, which in September announced it would take on 4,500 extra seasonal workers in Rugeley, says it is now offering special tickets to staff.

    A man who was arrested and later released following the August 2011 riots has received an out-of-court payment from West Midlands Police after claiming wrongful arrest and alleged assault. 

    Emmanuel Prophet, from Birmingham, says he had nothing to do with the riots and his lawyers claim he was targeted by the police only because of the colour of his skin.

    The force has not admitted any liability and says no officers have been disciplined.

    The top of a lorry was ripped off after its driver got the vehicle wedged under an overpass in Birmingham.

    The truck became stuck earlier beneath the 9ft 3in (2.8m) bridge in Dale End, where similar crashes have happened before.

    The 7.5-tonne lorry struck the underside of the busy overpass, which takes bus traffic in and out of the city centre, at about 10:10.

    A clean-up is under way after a water main burst flooding roads in Birmingham.

    This picture from Severn Trent shows just how much damage it caused. 

    The junction in Harborne Lane collapsed from the weight of the water, taking a lamp-post down with it.  

    Severn Trent says the water main that burst in Selly Oak was "really big". 

    West Midlands Fire service confirmed 10 homes were "moderately affected".

    The pipe has been turned off and engineers are now, external repairing the pipe.  

    Part of Harborne Lane will stay closed from the roundabout at the junction of the A38 up to the petrol station just before the junction with Quinton Road.  

    Severn Trent says there hasn't been any impact on residents' water supply.

    A war veteran is to get a hero's send off at his funeral later, thanks to a social media campaign.  

    Harry Arrowsmith was an RAF flight sergeant in a Lancaster Bomber during World War Two. 

    The 91-year-old, from Solihull, died earlier this month, but just a handful of people were due to attend his funeral. 

    His story was shared thousands of times on social media and now hundreds of people are expected at the Robin Hood crematorium.

    A man with diabetes is missing from his home in Sedgley.

    Police say they are "urgently" searching for 75-year-old William Jewkes, who has not been seen since about 11:00 on Tuesday.

    West Midlands Police says, external he left home without money, diabetes medication or a coat. 

    "This is totally out of character and his family are extremely worried," a spokesperson said.

    A mother and stepfather have been charged with murdering their toddler, external.

    It happened on 20 November at a home in Wednesfield High Street, Wolverhampton. 

    West Midlands Police says the two-and-a-half year old boy was found with head and body injuries.

    A post-mortem test showed he died from peritonitis as a result of blunt force trauma to his abdomen.  

    The 25-year-old mother and 27-year-old stepfather are set to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court later.
