    One man died and a woman was taken to hospital after a crash involving two cars in Hampton-in-Arden this morning.

    The ambulance service said it arrived at the scene on Eastcote Lane to find one vehicle had left the road and nothing could be done to save the driver.

    The second driver, a woman in her 50s, sustained a chest injury.

    A yellow weather warning for snow and ice remains in the West Midlands.

    The Met Office says:, external "A cold north to northwesterly airstream will maintain the risk of wintry showers through Friday night and Saturday morning. However, amounts of snow are likely to be very variable with some places remaining dry."

    A jogger has died in Tamworth after being hit by a car this morning. , external

    Staffordshire Police say a grey Audi collided with a man who was out running on the A51 Tamedrive at around 07:00. 

    The force says the jogger was pronounced dead at the scene.

    "Disgusting" and "not fit for purpose" is how a former inmate has described a Worcestershire prison.

    Ex-prisoner describes HMP Hewell as 'rife with drugs'

    It comes after Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons published a report this week criticising the conditions at the category B HMP Hewell prison, including high levels of violence and the availability of drugs. 

    In a statement, the Ministry of Justice said a major shake-up would see "2,500 extra prisons officers and new security measures to tackle drones, phones and drugs and help make prisons places of safety and reform".

    "The Justice Secretary has always been clear that it will take time to address these long-standing problems and we must grip the real challenges and risks that we face in the shorter term," a spokesperson said.

    Wolves, external and Aston Villa, external are planning special tributes to their former manager Graham Taylor following his death yesterday.

    The two clubs play each other on Saturday evening and Wolves have already begun changing the programme to honour the former England boss.
