    A woman found dead in a car park at a branch of Lidl on Monday was a mother of four children, police say.

    Nyesha Kahari, also known as Gillian, was 35. Her husband Norbert Chikerema, aged 42, of Overdale Road, Quinton, Birmingham, has been charged with her murder.

    In a statement, her family said: "Gillian was a decent, loving mother of four children, two boys and two girls. She was a caring and hardworking woman who always strived to keep her family happy."

    Her body was found in Mackadown Lane, Tile Cross, Birmingham.

    Eight men have appeared before Birmingham Crown Court accused of prison mutiny in connection with December's disorder at HMP Birmingham in the Winson Green area of the city. 

    Nathan Weston, 22, pleaded guilty to the charge, and will be sentenced at a later date.

    John Burton, 39, Robert Smith, 33, Luke Mansell, 23, and Ross Wilkinson, also 23, all denied the charge.

    A sixth man, Grant Samed, 30, did not enter a plea. 

    Two more, Ross Queen, 30, and 32-year-old Carl Brookes, are accused of prison mutiny and unauthorised taking of a photograph in jail. They deny the charges.

    A man is in a critical condition after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run crash, police say.

    West Midlands Police is appealing, external for information and wants to speak to the driver of a dark-coloured Volkswagen.

    It happened on 31 January at around 20:00 at the junction of Heathfield Road and Villa Road in Lozells, Birmingham.

    Police say Andrew Wallace, 48, from Birmingham, suffered a serious head injury.

    A man has been remanded in custody and will appear before Birmingham Crown Court charged with the murder of his wife, police say.  

    Norbert Chikerema, aged 42, of Overdale Road, Quinton, Birmingham, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court this morning accused of murdering Nyasha Kahari, 35. 

    It follows the discovery of a body in a car outside a branch of Lidl in Mackadown Lane, Tile Cross, Birmingham, on 30 January.

    Details of a giant Chinese arch for Birmingham's Southside development have been revealed. 

    The plans would also see an area around Ladywell Walk and Hurst Street pedestrianised. 

    It comes after the City Council approved proposals for the £70m transformation of Smallbrook Queensway.

    A fire at a factory on Wobaston Road in Wolverhampton was started deliberately, the fire service says.

    The blaze happened on 26 January and around 100 firefighters and 20 fire engines were needed to tackle it.

    A man has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a motorbike, external in Cannock.

    Staffordshire Police say the pedestrian was on John Street, at the junction of Cannock Road, on Monday evening when the collision happened. 

    Officers say the local man, in his mid 30s, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where he's said to be in a critical condition. 

    The force says the motorcyclist, an 18-year-old man from Cannock, suffered minor injuries to his head and back and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
