    Looks like the week in Birmingham is finishing the same way it started - with a lorry stuck in the centre of the city.

    We told you on Tuesday about a lorry that ended up on metro tracks. 

    This time one got into difficulty under a bridge in Dale End near Albert Street.

  2. Saido Berahino: Striker served eight-week FA suspension - Mark Hughespublished at 10:14 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2017

    Stoke City were aware of Saido Berahino's FA suspension at West Brom before signing him, Potters manager Mark Hughes has said.

    The striker, 23, joined the Potters for £12m in the January transfer window.

    Hughes said Berahino had "issues at his previous club for 18 months" and served his suspension for a "Football Association disciplinary matter".

    Saido Berahino served an eight-week suspension before leaving West Brom, Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has said.  

    His comments follow newspaper reports the striker was banned after failing an out-of-competition drugs test.  

    Baggies boss Tony Pulis said in a press conference this morning: "Personally I don't give a damn now, I've spent two and a half years at this football club, he's not my problem anymore, I wish him all the best."

    Berahino is due to return to the Hawthorns tomorrow for Stoke's Premier League match with West Brom.

  4. Man jailed for 14 years for sex assault on babypublished at 09:17 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2017

    A man who sexually assaulted a baby has been jailed for 14 years.

    Craig Palmer admitted a string of child sex offences and was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday.

    Palmer, 33, of Blakesley Grove, Stechford, Birmingham, admitted eight counts of sexual assault, which took place when the baby girl was aged between five and 12 months.

    All of the offences took place between December 2014 and February 2016, West Midlands Police said.

    Norwich City Football Club is looking for a new chief executive after Jez Moxey left the club last night

    The former Wolves CEO had only been in the job since August.

    In a statement, chairman Ed Balls said: "The role has not worked out satisfactorily for either Jez and his family or for the football club, and all parties have professionally and amicably agreed to move on. 

    "We wish Jez all the best in his future career and now our focus is on the next steps for Norwich City."

  7. Repairs to burst water main on schedulepublished at 08:35 Greenwich Mean Time 3 February 2017

    A new water pipe is being lifted into place in Birmingham after one of the city's main pipes burst last November. 

    The rupture on Harborne Lane near Selly Oak close to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital caused significant damage. 

    Severn Trent says it is on schedule to complete the work by the middle of the month.

    A Birmingham-based lawyer who brought abuse claims against UK troops after the Iraq war has been struck off for misconduct.

    Phil Shiner, from the now-defunct law firm Public Interest Lawyers, had 12 charges of misconduct proved against him by a panel of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal.

    He previously admitted acting recklessly by publicly claiming UK troops unlawfully killed, tortured and mistreated Iraqis.

    A woman who was repeatedly raped by her stepfather more than 35 years ago is encouraging other victims to come forward and report their abuse. 

    Her attacker was jailed for 15 years following an inquiry by a specialist unit at West Midlands Police. 

    It was set up after a 40% increase in reports of historical sex abuse and has already carried out almost 300 investigations.
