  1. Man due in court charged with grooming boypublished at 10:06 British Summer Time 17 July 2017

    A man from Tamworth has been charged with attempting to meet a boy under 16 following grooming.

    He was arrested in the Hockley area of Staffordshire on Friday night, external following reports of a disturbance involving several members of the public.

    The 49 year old is due before magistrates in Cannock today and also faces a charge of assault.

    Police are still looking for the driver of a BMW which crashed into the living room of a house in Birmingham.

    A 26-year-old man - sitting on a sofa in the room when the crash happened - was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

    The driver ran away from the scene on Castle Road, Selly Oak, just after 05:30 on Saturday.

    The winners of £6.6bn worth of contracts to build the first phase of HS2 between London and Birmingham have been announced by the government.

    UK companies Carillion, Costain and Balfour Beatty are among the consortia who will build tunnels, bridges and embankments on the first stretch of the new high speed rail line.
