    The inquest will continue today into the death of a woman who was killed by her brother.

    Melvin James, who'd previously been treated for paranoid psychosis, attacked his mother and sister with a knife at their home in Wolverhampton.

    A mother told her son "I love you" as he stabbed her "again and again" at a flat in Wolverhampton, an inquest heard.

    Melvin James attacked his mother Lynette James as his sister, Anne-Marie, lay fatally wounded in the hallway of the second floor tower block apartment.

    In evidence, read by Black Country senior coroner Zafar Siddique, jurors heard Lynette James recall "he plunged the knife into me, again and again. I said 'I love you, son'."

    The inquest is looking into the deaths of Anne-Marie and Mr James - who, after attacking his family, fatally stabbed himself. The hearing continues.

    A man who killed his sister and stabbed his mother before fatally stabbing himself had been discharged from hospital with no medical notes, his brother told an inquest.

    Leon James was speaking at a hearing into the deaths of Ann-Marie James - stabbed at the family's flat in Wolverhampton - and her killer Melvin James.

    He told the inquest in Oldbury his brother Melvin had been sectioned at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital for displaying psychotic paranoid behaviour. He was later discharged.

    Leon James drove to the hospital to bring him back to live at his mother's flat and said he was not given any notes as to his brother's condition and was simply told to ensure he registered with a GP.

    Their mother survived the attack. The inquest continues.

    A schoolboy who died after eating lunch at school had been unwell in the days before his death, an inquest has heard.

    Jurors at the hearing were told today that nine-year-old Mohammad Ismaeel Ashraf from Sparkbrook had eaten fish fingers at Al Hijrah School in Birmingham and then developed symptoms similar to an allergic reaction. He later died in hospital.

    Paediatrician Dr Robin Tall told the inquest Ismaeel had been unwell in the days before his death with a suspected viral illness and had attended Birmingham Children's Hospital. But Dr Tall said the schoolboy appeared to be getting better and had returned to school two days before his death.

    The inquest, which is expected to last three or four days, continues.

  18. Police hunt for Gumtree car thiefpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 21 August 2017

    A thief posing as a car buyer stole a man's Toyota Yaris following a test drive, West Midlands Police said.

    According to the force, a man from Alum Rock listed the car for sale on Gumtree with help from his teenage son.

    The seller was contacted by a man who took it for a test drive and on his return, said he wanted to go ahead with the sale. However, once the car's owner went inside his property to get documents, the "buyer" turned on the teenager, who was in the car, and threatened him before driving off.
