    A post-mortem has revealed a woman killed in a suspected murder-suicide died from a single stab wound to the neck.

    Amy Barnes, who was 32, was found dead at an address in Cofton Park Close, Rednal - her husband, James, was found dead 20 miles (32km) away in Streetly.

    A statement released by Amy's mother, on behalf of her family, said: "Amy was a fantastic, funny, beautiful and caring girl.

    "She was known as my precious gift, my first born and the best big sister to her two younger sisters Lucy and Emily.

    Amy's mother said her daughter had worked as a neo-natal nursery nurse and was "extremely passionate" about her work.

    West Midlands Police said Mr Barnes, 30, died from the effects of a fire.

    Organisers of the Velo Birmingham cycling event, which passed through Worcestershire, say parts of the route in that county were targeted by protesters who threw metallic objects on to the road.

    The sportive saw 15,000 cyclists pass through places including Bewdley, Stourport and Ombersley, causing road closures for most of Sunday.

    John Ridgeon, from CMS Active, which organised the event, says some people took their protests too far.

    A railway footpath in Walsall where a teenager died on Tuesday afternoon after she was hit by a train has been closed.

    Police say the 14-year-old girl is thought to have crossed the track after waiting for a freight train to pass but was then hit by another train approaching in the opposite direction.

    The gates leading onto the Wallows Lane foot crossing have been locked closed.

    Officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit have arrested a 20-year-old man on suspicion of terrorism offences.

    The 20-year-old was arrested in London on suspicion of possessing information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

    West Midlands Police said the arrest was pre-planned and intelligence-led.

    Birmingham City won their first game since 12 August as Isaac Vassell's late goal proved decisive against Sheffield Wednesday at St Andrew's.

    The hosts, under caretaker manager Lee Carsley, sealed a much-needed win when Jacques Maghoma set up Vassell to score from close range.

    It was substitute Vassell's first goal for the club.
