Community transport buses that help vulnerable and elderly residents could be threatened by new regulations, a Worcester-based scheme has warned.

At the moment about 20 largely volunteer-run services provide cheap lifts for those who're unable to use public transport, or can't afford taxis.

Worcester Wheels says changes in EU law, which will be applied in the UK, will mean costly checks and extra training for drivers.

  13. 2022 Games: Why Birmingham should get the bidpublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 6 October 2017

    Stephanie Barnard
    BBC News

So far Birmingham is the only city to bid for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, but after the news we've had today that submissions have reopened, it's not 100% certain Birmingham will play host.

Here are just some of the reasons Birmingham should win the games

    • There is a wealth of musical talent that could be involved in the opening ceremony - UB40 can reform, Jeff Lynne's ELO can "woo" the crowds with Mr Blue Sky and Black Sabbath can rock out the crowds to Paranoid
    • Funny men Frank Skinner and Lenny Henry could provide some hilarious alternative commentary on sports including open water swimming and wrestling

    • Mouthwatering delights for every appetite - from the Brum Balti, Black Country pork scratchings to several Michelin starred restaurants
    • Birmingham really does have more canals than Venice - perfect for the thousands of people who would descend on the city. We certainly don't recommend any of the teams use them for practising backstroke
