    Another landmark has been reached at the Severn Valley Railway's Bridgnorth station, with the roof trusses on the new refreshment block now two-thirds finished.

    The heritage railway says the delivery of the Welsh slates that will cover the roof has been delayed until March 2018, but a temporary, weatherproof roof will allow the building to be used in the meantime.

    It funded the work by selling £2.5m shares to the public.

    A report by the Care Quality Commission says they found a number of issues including children waiting too long to get treatment.

    They also say they found temperatures in clinic rooms were high which could be affecting medicines and said there needed to be better monitoring of patients on elderly wards.

    The Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust says it's already begun tackling problems.

    A poker player from Cheshire has died in a car crash in the Czech Republic.

    Emma Fryer from Alsager was in the country for a World Series of Poker event when the collision happened on Sunday, her partner said.

    On her Facebook page, the 42-year-old's last post, from October, said that she had just started a "new job as a poker player".

    Fourteen calls were made to 999 from someone's pocket this afternoon, West Mercia Police says.

    The force is urging people to be more careful, saying accidental calls can delay officers getting to genuine emergencies.

    It said it always phones 999-callers back and on this occasion "advice was given" to the owner of the mobile phone.

    The force also said it's a common and time-consuming issue, as is children playing with phones.

    A two-week gun surrender is going to be held in Staffordshire from Monday. , external

    The county's police force says the last such campaign was held in 2014 and saw more than 200 weapons handed in, including rifles and shotguns.

    In Staffordshire, officers say there has been a fall of 27% for possession of firearms offences in the past 12 months alongside a 20% reduction of possession of firearms with intent offences.

    During the surrender, anyone who hands in a firearm will not face prosecution for illegal possession, however they could still face charges if the weapons are tied to a specific crime.

    Health bosses in Shropshire say they are working to make improvements to mental health services for young people.

    The contract to provide services for people from birth to 25 has moved to South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare Trust.

    At a meeting today, the county's Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) heard that there have been concerns relating to delays in patients being seen - although it was stressed this was an issue dating to before the new contract.

    Officials at the CCG says, to improve things, there'll be new services online and more therapy-based services.

    Stoke-on-Trent Council says cases have risen by 1,000 in the last 12 months.

    Bosses say the rise in reports reflects the positive action it is taking to clean up the city and encouraging residents to report dumped rubbish.

    Stoke-on-Trent City Council is defending the number of people it has prosecuted for fly-tipping.

    More than 8,000 cases were recorded in the city over the past year alone, a rise of 1,000 in the space of 12 months.

    However the authority's revealed there were just 26 prosecutions in the last year.

    It could be five years before lifts are installed at Barnt Green station, Network Rail has told BBC Hereford & Worcester.

    The station has a new footbridge, external but it lacks full disabled access because, without a lift, people with wheelchairs or with pushchairs can't access two of the four platforms.

    Network Rail says the three lifts required at Barnt Green would cost £900,000 and getting them installed properly will cost nearly £3m, money they don't have in the budget now.

    There's been an increase in the number of West Mercia Police staff being attacked.

    The force says there were 184 incidents between July and September this year compared with 166 for the same period in 2016.

    It says, while the majority of attacks are on police officers, student officers, staff, PCSOs and Special Constables have also been assaulted.
