One of the top health officials in Stoke-on-Trent has apologised to people in the city, after a regulator said some older people are having "poor" care experiences.
People in the city found it hard to access a GP appointment "in a timely way" and many ended up at A&E, the Care Quality Commission said.
A report by the watchdog found there were long waits in A&E and older people were often delayed in hospital despite being ready to leave.
Quote MessageI need to apologise to the people of Stoke-on-Trent for the fact they're not getting the right quality services at the right time in many cases and I think I would say that on behalf of the other system leaders. We need to get this right, we need to work together and there is a real commitment to do that."
