    A lorry driver escaped serious injury after he hit a bridge on the B476 near Bridgnorth this morning, West Midlands Ambulance Service has said.

    The 50-year-old was quickly helped from his cab before his vehicle fell over the edge and was taken to New Cross Hospital with chest pain and bruises.

    The fire service had tried to stabilise the vehicle using winches, but said it fell while attempts were made to recover it.

    A 10-week-old puppy called Buster has been stolen from a house in Birmingham, external.

    The young Dogue de Bordeaux is a French mastiff breed and he was taken from a house on Court Oak Road in Quinton on Saturday, 18 November.

    In their latest match, Luctonians were driven back by Hinckley Rugby club towards the tryline which led to some important pitch furniture being demolished in the process.

    One of the goalposts fell down and, after several confused faces, players and officials decided to finish the game on a neighbouring pitch and Hinckley won 52-12.

    The Unite union says its hopeful of fresh talks, aimed at settling its dispute at the Kingsmill bakery in West Bromwich.

    Drivers and maintenance staff have voted to take strike action with the union saying the 2% pay rise being offered, along with an extra £150 for 2018, was "completely unacceptable"

    Lorries delivering materials to a construction site in Coventry are creating mayhem, according to residents who've spoken to BBC Coventry and Warwickshire.

    They say about 10 trucks a day are going to the Westleigh Homes site in Longford where new homes are being built. , external

    A spokesman for the firm says they're trying to cut down on the disruption and the city council says it will make a visit to try and resolve any issues.

    The authority's become the latest authority to take action against lanterns which can be harmful to animals and cause fires.

    Instead, the council's urging people to consider "environmentally-friendly" ways of marking an occasion, such as planting a tree of using flags.

    The Duchess of Cornwall has said “America’s loss is our gain” following Prince Harry's engagement to American actress Meghan Markle.

    The duchess added she was “delighted” by the news.

    The Prince of Wales and Camilla are visiting Stoke-on-Trent.

    They went to the Bethesda Chapel to see the efforts being made to restore it.

    The chapel, in Hanley, dates back to 1797 and has a cascade of knitted poppies along the pulpit.

    Commemorative mugs to mark Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement were designed and in production "within minutes" of the announcement, a pottery firm says.

    Stoke-on-Trent firm Emma Bridgewater says its founder and her husband Matthew Rice drew up the design yesterday, following the news coming out.

    The design follows on from similar mugs launched to mark the Duke of Cambridge's marriage and the birth of his children.

    They're not on sale yet but there's already been "lots of interest" in the mugs from social media, their website and over the telephone, the firm says.

    The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are at The Potteries Museum in Hanley looking at the Leekfrith Torcs which the museum is fundraising for to keep in the city.

    The torcs were discovered in Staffordshire last year by two metal detectorists on Moorlands farmland.

    Following the announcement yesterday of Prince Harry getting engaged to Meghan Markle we're expecting a comment from the royal couple who are visiting several locations throughout Stoke-on-Trent.

    A suspected thief has been formally cautioned by police after parents on the village school run barricaded them in with their cars until officers arrived.

    A mother who "led" the blockade said she saw two men stealing scrap lead from a garden in Horrabridge and loading it into a van when she blocked and confronted them on Monday morning.

    Two men, aged 31 and 28 and from Birmingham, were arrested on suspicion of theft.

    Police said after the arrests: "Several mothers on their way back from school stood and would not let the offenders leave the scene.

    "We would thank the public for their assistance with this matter. They were all very professional and calm in the way that they dealt with the incident."

    Devon and Cornwall Police said the 28-year-old man was given a police caution "in connection with this matter".

    The 31-year-old was released under investigation, pending further inquiries, the force added.

    The River Wye in Hereford's risen more than 2m (7ft) in the last 24 hours, external, according to the Environment Agency.
