    Worcester Warriors’ head coach Carl Hogg says he felt their game with Sale was a case of a "game too far" for the squad.

    Warriors looked set for a third straight victory when Sale's Byron McGuigan was shown a second yellow card after 66 minutes for a tip tackle.

    Chris Pennell's resulting penalty, his third of the night, put Warriors 14-11 up but Sale had the last word, winning 18-14 at Sixways.

    The owner of Coventry airport, the Rigby Group, has bought Bournemouth Airport for an undisclosed sum, the company has announced.

    Rigby Group said the takeover helps boost its position as a "highly credible alternative to the major London Airports."

    The Stratford-upon-Avon based company also owns Norwich and Exeter airports and has contracts to operate Solent, City of Derry and Blackpool airports.

    Founder and chairman Sir Peter Rigby said the acquisition was an "important landmark" in the group's strategy.

    Plans for a multi-million pound industrial park to the east of Redditch have passed the first planning hurdle.

    Councillors in Bromsgrove have approved outline plans for their part of the Redditch Eastern Gateway , externalwhich would see 20m (66 ft high warehouses near the junction of the A4023 and A435.

    The plans will now be considered by councillors in Redditch next week where there’s strong opposition from residents in neighbouring Winyates.

    Surviving bottle kilns in Stoke-on-Trent, which are going to be protected under new plans, are a reminder of the city's huge pottery heritage.

    Experts calculate that in the heyday there were up to 4,000 of them in the 19th Century with as many as 2,000 still standing in the 1950s.

    There was no typical type of oven and their style was subject to the whim of their creator although they were all vaguely bottle shaped.

    They were used to transform the clay into something resembling the finished pottery product.

    But their domination of Stoke-on-Trent's skyline came to an end in the 1960s, when the Clean Air Act was introduced, as factories switched to gas and electricity.

    Now Historic England are going to fund efforts to protect the dozens which survive.

    Major work to raise the height of Worcester’s busiest road, external could begin as soon as January, with the possibility of more than four months of disruption for drivers.

    Councillors earlier approved plans to raise the height of New Road by Cripplegate Park and the River Severn to protect it against flooding similar to that in 2007 and 2014.

    The work will cost £1.2m and it’s estimated it will take 18 weeks to complete with the road down to two or one lanes.

    The Department for Transport (DfT) has robustly denied it is to blame for a further delay to the opening of Kenilworth station.

    Warwickshire County Council said rail services will start in February 2018 because the DfT was "unable to supply the train and drivers" for the line.

    A DfT spokesperson said it was disappointed the authority sought to blame it for "a further delay" saying: "The station was originally supposed to open many months ago, and the council and its contractors again appear to have failed to meet a revised delivery date to get the station ready for service."

    She said the council had been unable to obtain agreement from Network Rail, the train operator, to enable the service to start.

    The few surviving bottle kilns in Stoke-on-Trent are going to be protected under a new heritage scheme.

    The city's on a list of the latest eight areas to become Heritage Action Zones.

    In Stoke-on-Trent, the focus will be on overhauling Longton High Street , externalas well as protecting the bottle kilns that remain from the thousands built in heyday of the pottery industry.

    The regeneration and conservation works will be funded by Historic England once costs are finalised in the spring.

    Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a man whose body was found by the M54.

    Maintenance workers found Surjit Takhar's body in August 2015, next to the slip road at junction four, Telford, nearly seven years after he disappeared.

    The 37-year-old was reported missing from his home in Oldbury, West Midlands, in October 2008.

    Two men, aged 50 and 47, and a 48-year-old woman were arrested this morning from separate addresses in Handsworth, Birmingham.

    Searches are currently being carried out at properties in Handsworth and Telford, police say.

    A 17-year-old boy is in a critical condition after being stabbed in the neck.

    Another 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the incident in Market Place, Wednesbury, shortly after 12:00.

    The area has been cordoned-off for forensic examinations to take place.
