    A Worcester City Council spokesman says they have been given a deadline of Thursday to go or face court action.

    East Staffordshire councillor Deneice Florence-Jukes successfully challenged etiquette guide Debretts to get rid of what she described as the outdated advice to call female councillors 'Councillor Miss' or 'Councillor Mrs'.

    She won that battle, but her own council later failed to back her call, instead voting for a motion where members are now allowed to choose how they are addressed.

    Daily Politics presenter Jo Coburn asked about her mixed fortunes, and got a reaction from studio guest and Lib Dem leader Vince Cable.

  10. Evacuation over Tesco self-service checkout blazepublished at 14:29 Greenwich Mean Time 5 December 2017

    A branch of Tesco has been evacuated over a fire in a self-service checkout machine, the fire service says.

    Crews were called shortly after 12:30 to the store in New Street, Birmingham. They dealt with smoke and carried out tests for hazardous chemicals after a small amount of people complained about irritation.

    Ambulance staff have treated one person on site, who's been discharged.

    Tesco engineers are at the scene.

    Something appears to be chewing the swings in a Worcester playground, causing hundreds of pounds of damage.

    Six of the seats at the Weir Lane play area have had to be replaced over the past two months, at a cost of £50 each and one theory is that a dog has been doing the damage.

    Worcester City Council said it might reach a point when it stopped replacing the seats, because of the cost.

    It has appealed for help in finding the person or creature responsible.

    Rail services for Kenilworth Station have been put back again and won't now happen until February 2018, Warwickshire County Council says.

    Joint managing director of the scheme, Monica Fogarty said the news was "hugely disappointing" and that the Department for Transport (DfT) was "unable to supply the train and drivers" in order to meet the December opening date.

    Rail services from Leamington Spa to Coventry through Kenilworth were due to start in 2016 as part of the £11.3m station redevelopment.

    The DfT has been approached for a response.

    Herefordshire Council's confirmed the new road linking Great Western Way with the rail station and county hospital has been completed on time.

    It also means the authority can reinstate the second entrance to Merton Meadow car park in time for Christmas.

    A 12-year-old school pupil's been injured after a knife he'd put in his backpack went through the bag and cut him in the back, external as he walked.

    It happened at Cheslyn Hay Sport and Community High School, in Staffordshire, earlier and the boy's been taken to hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.

    Both the school and the police force say reports of a deliberate stabbing or knife attack at the school "are not true" and the knife has been confiscated.

    Singer Beverley Knight is to headline a fundraiser to help send a Wolverhampton mum to Germany for cancer treatment.

    Anntoinette Richards, 32, had a mastectomy in February but now needs treatment for cancer that has spread to her liver.

    Family friend Ms Knight has agreed to help by performing at an event at the Molineux Stadium this Friday.
