The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will officially open a £59m science and health building at Coventry University during their visit.
The couple will tour the building which is being used as a training centre for nurses, midwives and paramedics.
Later, they'll stop for a cup of tea with staff and volunteers at the Rising Cafe, a social enterprise aimed at providing work for those overcoming drug and alcohol addictions.
A trial is set to start today over the murder of James Brindley.
The 26-year-old was stabbed in the heart as he walked home in Aldridge, near Walsall, on 23 June.
Aaron Kahrod, 20, of Walsall Road, Aldridge, and a 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons, were arrested on 12 July.
The pair deny murder and the trial is set to begin at Birmingham Crown Court.

An elderly woman's handed over nearly £2,500 to fraudsters , externalafter being contacted by a man claiming to be a police officer.
The 75-year-old , from Burton, was telephoned by the fake officer who told her to withdraw £8,000 as someone had put an overdraft on her bank account without her knowing.
Police says she withdrew £2,500 and the man then asked her to check the serial numbers on the notes before being told some of the money was counterfeit and a courier would be sent to collect it.
She then gave nearly all the money to a woman who knocked on her door and asked for it.
A worker on the new Midland Metropolitan Hospital building in Smethwick has been describing how hundreds of workers were locked out of the site after the collapse of Carillion yesterday.
The contractor, who wanted to only be identified as Philip, told the BBC: "Everyone on the site got told: 'That's it, go home.' My company said, 'You've been laid off.'
"There was 20 of us working for my company, and on the whole site there was 520 people for different companies.
"They've literally locked the gate. They've told us we can get our personal tools off the site if they're small, but that's it."
"I'm due wages from my company I don't know if I'm going to be getting."

Tributes continue to pour in to Cyrille Regis, the former West Brom and England forward, who has died at the age of 59.
He has been described as "one of the great symbols of the fight against racism" and "a pioneer for black footballers" across the world.

A crowd has already started gathering ahead of a visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Rashid Bhayat, CEO of the charity said the couple will meet "groups of inspirational young people who have overcome many barriers and benefited from the support we offer".

A man's in a critical condition in hospital, external after his motorbike collided with a van in Herefordshire.
The Yamaha motorcycle collided with the Volkswagon transporter on the A438 in Bridge Sollars near Hereford yesterday morning, police say.
Officers say the motorbiker, a man in his 50s, was airlifted to hospital with suspected fractures and a head injury. The transporter driver wasn't hurt.
A new chemotherapy unit costing more than £2m is to be opened at Solihull Hospital.
Work's due to start on converting an empty ward at the hospital into the new facility.
It's expected the new unit will eventually treat up to 31 patients at a time and create 51 jobs.

Work will continue "as planned" on a project to overhaul the A50 in Staffordshire, external, despite the collapse of construction giant Carillion.
The firm ran into trouble after losing money on big contracts and running up huge debts of around £1.5bn.
Staffordshire County Council says Carillion is part of a joint venture partnership managing a scheme on the A50 road junction, external near Uttoxeter.
The project was due to be completed in November and the authority says, after several conversations, its intention is for work to continue as planned.
