    A final decision is expected on the future of a field of allotments which the church wants to sell for housing.

    The site in Wellesbourne, Warwickshire, is privately rented land from the Diocese of Coventry and has been used by families for more than 170 years.

    A broken down train between Stourbridge Junction and Stourbridge Town mean the line between these stations is blocked, the Network Rail website reports, external.

    Buses will replace trains between Stourbridge Junction and Stourbridge Town.

    A normal service is expected to resume at 10:00.

    Britain's most senior traffic police officer has said motorists should be punished for speeding - even if they are just one mile an hour over the limit, according to the Daily Mail, external.

    Anthony Bangham, also West Mercia Police's Chief Constable, has called for an end to officers allowing a 10% "buffer" over the signposted limit.

    In what the paper describes as a "radical departure from the status quo", he also says traffic awareness courses are being used too widely and he calls on traffic officers to stop being 'apologetic' for handing out speeding tickets.

    That loss leaves the Saddlers just three points above the relegation places.

    In League Two, Coventry continued their promotion push by beating Cambridge 3-1, their seventh successive home win.

    The Sky Blues are fourth, a point behind Notts County who are in the third automatic promotion place.

    MPs have given the provisional go ahead to the second phase of the HS2 high speed rail project, the section that will run between Birmingham and Crewe.

    The first phase from London to Birmingham's set to open in 2026 with the second launched in two stages, including the line to Crewe which is due to start in 2027.

    The High Speed Rail (West Midlands - Crewe) Bill was given a second reading and got a 283 majority.

    A dozen MPs voted against it, including Stone's Sir Bill Cash, Lichfield's Michael Fabricant and Coventry South's Jim Cunningham.

    Spit and bite guards were used 40 times in the first 50 days of use , externalin the West Midlands.

    The transparent mesh fabric hoods are used to prevent those arrested from spitting or biting officers.

    They were introduced in mid-December with West Midlands Police saying it was to protect officers from the risk of infection. However, critics say they are cruel and degrading.

    The figures have been released by West Midlands Police who say the youngest person to have one fitted was 15 while the oldest was 53.
