    A recent purchase of three shopping centres will generate a profit of £2.7m in the next year, Shropshire Council says.

    The council paid £51m to buy the Darwin, Pride Hill and Riverside centres from UK Commercial Property Trust.

    Critics of the deal say it's risky, strange and dangerous and questioned whether local authorities should be buying shopping centres.

    But the council's leader says they've made the move to generate their own income and finally deliver the re-generation the centres need.

    Disruption to services between Crewe and Liverpool will continues into the rush hour, the National Rail website reports.

    A fault with the signalling system , externalnear Winsford is causing delays to journeys between Acton Bridge and Crewe. This is expected to continue until 18:00.

    Services may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or cancelled.

    All trains from Birmingham will terminate or start at Crewe.

    Plans for a western bypass for Hereford , externalwill go on display next month.

    Seven possible routes are being put forward for the road with the council saying it should relieve congestion.

    The road will run from the A49 to the southern link road.

    Proposals will be displayed at several locations in the city before they are exhibited at Hereford Library from 16 February.

    The consultation ends on 20 March.

    Visitors to Twycross Zoo reported queues of more than two hours yesterday caused by cut-price entry.

    People claimed on social media they simply turned back after the attraction started operating a one in-one out system because of overwhelming demand.

    Helen Faccio, who visited with her family from Long Eaton, said she queued for two-and-a-half hours to get in. She said at 11:00 the traffic jam stretched back three miles.

    "Most people in the vehicles queuing were families with young children and it was very frustrating having so little information about what was going on," she said.

    "My husband and our three-year-old son got out the car and walked... while I continued queuing in the car, so at least our son wasn't getting bored and angry. Lots of people were doing the same."

    A Twycross Zoo spokeswoman said its "January sale" offer of £10 adult tickets and £5 for children (down from £19.45 and £14.45) did mean delays getting in.

    "All of our team worked hard to ensure the delays were kept to a minimum, but we would like to express our apologies for any inconvenience caused to our guests and our community."

    Bin collections are being shook up in Worcester this week, external with some collection dates being swapped around.

    The city council says the changes mean around half the city will see their black bins, for general waste, collected for two weeks in a row before the revamp is finished.

    After that, it says all households will then get their black bin picked up one week and their green bin, for recycled rubbish, the next.

    The changes will make collection rounds more efficient, the city council claims.

    Megan Malone started pulling out her hair when she was seven.

    Megan, now aged 14, from Coventry, had a disorder known as trichotillomania.

    It was only after three months of sessions with therapist Alison Scobbie, from Cornwall, that she was cured.

    West Midlands Police says the body of the 61-year-old victim was discovered just after 02:00 today at a house on South Road, Erdington.

    Officers arrested a 52-year-old man who lives on the same street and say he's still in custody.

    A couple are calling for more money to be spent on research into a rare genetic condition which they say has caused the deaths of three of their five children.

    Carrick Prentice-Underwood, 19, died earlier this month.

    Sister Charlotte, 16, died in 2010 followed by 17-year-old brother Craig in 2013.

    Parents Robert and Maggie Underwood, from Redditch, say they believe all three deaths were because they all had Vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, external, which causes heart problems.

    The couple are pushing for tests for their younger children, five-year-old Poppy and Mitchell, seven.

    Online retail giant Amazon has unveiled plans for a new warehouse in Rugby, which it says will create 400 jobs.

    Recruitment has already begun for new roles including managers and engineers. Factory floor jobs will be advertised in the coming weeks.

    Rugby will be Amazon's fourth centre in the Midlands, with warehouses already in Coalville, Daventry and Rugeley.

    A man's been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an incident in Hereford.

    A man was seriously hurt during the incident at midday on Commercial Street. He has been taken to hospital in Birmingham.

    Police say the man they've arrested is in custody and they've cordoned off the area in the city.

    The family of Cyrille Regis has asked for fans to remember the footballer through charity donations rather than floral tributes.

    In a Tweet, external, his family said: "We’re so proud that Cyrille’s legacy is a life lived in service to others. With this in mind, rather than floral tributes, please consider making a donation to one of the charities of which he was an ambassador/trustee."

    A celebration service for Mr Regis, described as a pioneer for black footballers, will take place in West Bromwich tomorrow.
