    Three women who have rowed across the Atlantic, setting a number of records in the process, are being checked over by medical staff.

    Di Carrington from Pontesbury, Sharon Magrath from Shrewsbury and Elaine Theaker from Abergavenny set off from the Canary Islands in December and arrived in Antigua this morning.

    Grieving Birmingham parents will not be charged for child burials or cremations from April.

    It's one of a number of measures outlined in the city council's budget for 2018/19, which went before cabinet members earlier today.

    A number of other authorities, including the Welsh Assembly have also made the move.

    The city council says it is also supporting the Welsh Labour MP Carolyn Harris (pictured above), who has been campaigning for a national children's funeral fund, external after losing her son.

    Organisers at Worcester Racecourse say the photos will be used to create a montage entitled People of Pitchcroft, to be unveiled at its anniversary race day on 4 July.

    Two men in balaclavas have robbed a cash van in Shrewsbury.

    The guard was attacked as he was returning to the van on Arlington Way at 14:40 and with the theives taking a cash box before driving off in a dark-coloured car.

    The jury in the trial of football coach Barry Bennell has been sent home for the night after delivering dozens of verdicts in his trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

    The 64-year-old had denied 48 charges but they found him guilty of 36 offences and not guilty of three counts, with the remaining verdicts to be delivered tomorrow.

    The convictions were for multiple sex offences against boys between 1979 and 1991.

    Bennell worked at Crewe Alexandra in the 1980s and 1990s and also had a close association with Stoke City and Manchester City.

    During the trial prosecutors said he was a "predatory and determined paedophile" who molested young boys on an "industrial scale".

    The former Crewe Alexandra coach Barry Bennell has been convicted of two counts of indecently assaulting one young boy between 1979 and 1982.

    At Liverpool Crown Court this afternoon, he was found guilty of three counts of indecent assault and two counts serious sexual assault against a second complainant.

    Bennell was also convicted of four counts of indecent assault against a third victim.

    Street lights will remain on in some parts of Redditch, after a spate of anti-social behaviour.

    Lights in Pembridge and Sutton Close will be left on all night after six arson attacks on vehicles.

    It follows a decision by Worcestershire County Council to switch off 16,000 lights across the county overnight in a bid to save cash.

    Calls from cyclists for a new velodrome for the Commonwealth Games have got you talking on the BBC Midlands Facebook page, external.

    Birmingham hosts the games in 2022 but the cycling will be held at the venue built for the Olympic Games in London.

    Some agreed that a new track would leave a lasting legacy in the city, with Andy Fisher saying it would be a "very heavily used training and competition venue" and adding "We need to think post games there should be a legacy to promote sports."

    Dave Gowers suggested using the NIA (Arena Birmingham), but Phil Innamorati replied to say "you wouldn't get a competition standard velodrome in the arena".

    And Peter White wrote: "Come on people, we won the games for Birmingham, why should London get anything. The Midlands got nothing from the Olympics. If they build a velodrome on the Halesowen site, they already have a cycling club in situ, then it could be used by all."

    A second phase of road closures will get underway down the A4103 this spring, external, between Hereford and Newtown Crossroads, due to a major resurfacing scheme.

    Herefordshire Council says it will aim to minimise disruption but traders have told BBC Hereford and Worcester that they are worried about being left out of pocket.

    Residents have been discussing the possibility of a series of "garden villages" being built alongside the M54.

    Shropshire Council's recent local development plan recognised the potential and The Bradford Estate, which owns land in the area, says it has a team of consultants investigating the possibility.
