    Tributes are being paid to a woman found dead at her home in Walsall.

    The body of 74-year-old great-grandmother Anne James was discovered at an address in Doveridge Place in Highgate on Wednesday night.

    A murder investigation is under way and a 25-year-old man has been arrested.

    Ms James's family have described her as "amazing, generous, kind, and much loved".

    It's been a struggle for many in the snow this week but RAF Shawbury, the Defence Helicopter Flying School, says it managed to get some flying done and get these photos.

    Raiders armed with machetes and a disk cutter robbed two Birmingham casinos last night.

    Admiral Casino on Bearwood Road was targeted at 22:10 - four or five raiders carrying knives fled the scene with cash.

    Later, at about 23:45, Rainbow Casino on Portland Road in Edgbaston was raided by three robbers carrying machetes and a disk cutter. Several cash boxes were forces open and a black Audi A5 was also stolen.

    Police said they are "keeping an open mind about whether the two robberies are linked" and are appealing for further information.

    Buses in Coventry are currently operating as normal, with delays of about 15 minutes.

    National Express said traffic is moving slowly and it couldn't guarantee how long the services would be running relatively smoothly for, but it seems to be doing better than other providers across the region.

    Early optimism about Paul Weller's gig at Birmingham's Genting Arena has proved ill-judged as the musician has announced he will not be performing tonight.

    He tweeted earlier that the show would indeed go on, despite numerous other events across the region being cancelled and low turnout for a Stereophonics gig at the venue on Thursday due to the snow.

    Weller said the decision was made to ensure "everyone stays as safe as possible" during the extreme weather.

    A man has been jailed for a rape 25 years ago, after being caught by DNA taken when a police dog was stabbed.

    Maggie Gordon, then 36, was attacked when she walked to work through Telford Town Park in 1993.

    Mark John Hemmings, of Tasley Road in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, was caught when German Shepherd Canto was stabbed in the town.

    She died before he could be found but, her son said, she always had "hope" that he would be caught.

    Birmingham Airport has been and is expecting to stay open, although operations are being reviewed every couple of hours.

    There have though been about 125 flights cancelled yesterday and today, but the majority of those were due to weather condition elsewhere in the UK and Europe.
