    The county council says it's been battling snowdrifts of 10 feet (3m) in places and some rural communities have been cut off.

    The two men charged today in connection with the murder of Jaskaran Kang have been remanded in custody after appearing in court.

    The body of 24-year-old Mr Kang, from Handsworth, Birmingham, was discovered at a property in Stourbridge Road, Dudley, on 6 January.

    Joshua Campbell, 18, of King Edmond Street, Dudley,is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit robbery. He has been remanded in custody at Dudley Magistrates ahead of his next court appearance on Monday.

    Tyrone Johnson, 21, of Malthouse Drive, Dudley, was also in court today accused of conspiracy to commit robbery. He will next be in court on 3 April and has been remanded in custody until then.

    A man responsible for an armed siege at a bowling alley wanted to be killed by armed police, a judge has said.

    David Clarke has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for his armed siege of the MFA Bowl in Nuneaton on 22 October.

    Judge Andrew Lockhart QC, sentencing, told Clarke: "Your selfish actions have deeply affected many people.

    "You wanted to put into effect your dreadful scheme to commit as you said 'suicide by cop'.

    "It was planned hostage-taking in a place you knew where children would be present."

    Three armed men who stole a large quantity of cash and threatened a worker at a shop in Birmingham have been captured on CCTV.

    Police are appealing for information after a member staff at Sana Collections in Ward End was threatened with a knife by the men.

    The armed robbery happened at about 17:40 on 12 February.

    PC Stephen Tighe from West Midlands Police said: “Someone in the area will know who this is. They’re wearing distinctive clothing and are likely live in the local area themselves."

    Meanwhile, a Paul Weller gig at the Genting Arena is due to go ahead as planned.

    Last night's Stereophonics performance at the venue also went ahead, however many people were unable to make it because of the snow. The Genting Arena said it is working on compensating ticket holders who could not attend.

    You might think these photos show somewhere around a beach, a giant chocolate dessert record attempt, or even a torrential mud slide but no, these are from today in Lichfield.

    Staffordshire Police officers took them and tweeted, external that the strange looking snow is down to mud covering the snow from a nearby field on this country lane.

    Crewe Alexandra's announced it won't be holding an independent review into allegations about former youth coach Barry Bennell, external while he worked at the club, despite promising one in 2016.

    Last week, the 64-year-old was jailed for 31 years after being found guilty of 43 charges of historical child sexual abuse.

    In November 2016, Crewe said it would carry out an independent review into claims involving Barry Bennell while he was employed by the club and what the club may have known about his offending.

    Now though, they say that, as Cheshire Police carried out an "extremely thorough investigation" into Crewe since then, they don't intend to carry out a further independent investigation.
