A woman and a child have been taken to hospital with "serious injuries" following a crash in Wolverhampton city centre, the ambulance service said.
The pedestrians were involved in a crash with a lorry near Princes Square, close to the Grand Theatre.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said a woman "received specialist trauma care having suffered serious injuries in the incident" and was taken to hospital.
The girl has been taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital.
It added the lorry driver, a man, was treated for shock.
The University of Wolverhampton said that graduates attending ceremonies can access the theatre via Broad Street and Fryer Street.

A bin lorry driver has appeared in court charged with causing the death of a 14-year-old girl when the lorry and a school minibus collided.
Nicholas Buck, 52, was granted unconditional bail after making a brief appearance at Birmingham Magistrates' Court.
The charge relates to a crash on 7 July last year which resulted in the death of twin, Holly Brown.
She had been on a school art trip when the crash happened in Castle Vale.
Mr Buck is set to appear at Birmingham Crown Court next month.
Express and Star reporter Luke Bartlett is at the scene of an accident in Wolverhampton city centre where he says a "young woman" has been hurt.
The University of Wolverhampton has said people attending graduations can access the ceremony via another route.

A teenager has been arrested in Hertfordshire in connection with threatening emails sent to schools in Staffordshire and Cheshire.
Cheshire Police said the message claimed a vehicle would be used to injure students.

A prisoner who was serving a seven-and-a-half-year sentence for fraud by false representation has absconded from HMP Sudbury.
Abdoulie Gassama left the prison on Monday.
The 36-year-old is black, 6ft 4in tall, bald and of a heavy build.

The man leading an investigation into historical sex abuse for the Football Association could carry out a separate inquiry into the clubs involved.
It comes after Crewe Alexandra said they would scrap plans for review into abuse by former coach Barry Bennell.
Clive Sheldon QC has asked a number of clubs for a "structured report" into how they handled allegations of abuse.
If he feels those are unsatisfactory he may step in to carry out his own investigation.
In February, Bennell was sentenced to 31 years in prison for abusing 12 boys, seven of whom were linked to the Cheshire club.
It is understood Sheldon has not ruled out trying to speak to Mr Bennell in prison as part of his wider investigation.

West Midlands Police said it was called to Bacchus Road, Winson Green at 20:20.
An 18-year-old man was also taken to hospital after a "liquid substance" was thrown in his face.
