    A mother has said she is amazed after thousands of people watched a video celebrating children with Down's syndrome.

    Rebecca Carless, 35, from Coventry, joined 49 other mothers from an online support group to make the video ahead of World Down's Syndrome Day.

    Another mum, Melissa says three-year-old Francesca loves seeing herself in the video which has been watched by millions.

    A bike share scheme, external will start operating in Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton in September.

    Nextbike has been chosen to operate the scheme which will initially see 2,000 bikes installed across the West Midlands.

    A further 3,000 bikes will be rolled out in phases that will include Walsall, Sandwell, Dudley and Solihull in 2019.

    Docking stations will be located around key sites in the towns and cities involved.

    Port Vale manager Neil Aspin says there's "a lot of backstabbing at this club" and claimed there are people at Vale Park who still don't want him there.

    They were in 22nd place when he took over last autumn, but results have improved under his leadership and they could move 10 points clear of the relegation zone with a win against Exeter tonight.

    Despite the perceived negativity, Aspin says his staff are behind him and they they are "honest" and "work hard".

    Domestic violence victims in Birmingham are being sent as far away as Manchester amid a "national crisis" in refuges, Labour has said.

    Shadow communities minister Melanie Onn told the Commons the current refuge system "is simply failing women across the country".

    "Just this Friday, victims of domestic violence from Birmingham were offered accommodation in Burton, Milton Keynes and even as far away as Manchester," she said.

    "And this isn't a small town having a spike in referrals. This is a city of 2.5m people, sending victims 86 miles away because they don't have the capacity to accommodate vulnerable people.

    "Sadly, this fits into a national crisis under this government."

    A special constable who was hit by a vehicle while helping at a crash scene has had to have part of a leg amputated.

    Ben Perry from Droitwich was off duty when he stopped to help at a crash on the M42 on Friday.

    He was struck as he went back to his car on the hard shoulder.

    He remains in hospital waiting for further surgery the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner says.

    West Mercia Assistant Chief Constable Martin Evans added “Ben acted to protect people from harm and his selfless actions are a credit to the force."

    A young deer had to be rescued after it became trapped between the wall of a garage and house in Bedworth.

    The muntjac, the UK's smallest deer, managed to get itself lodged upside down in the gap.

    RSPCA officer Adam McConkey said: "The poor little chap looked very uncomfortable and was probably disoriented".

    "We think he somehow climbed up on to the garage roof, but then lost his footing and fell off the edge."

    The animal was "stressed and kicking frantically - but after a few attempts, I managed to ease him out of the narrow space," he said.

    The father of a 16-year-old girl murdered in 2000 by a taxi driver who twice made her pregnant has accused the authorities at the time of failing her.

    Lucy Lowe was pregnant with a second child when Azhar Ali Mehmood set fire to her house in Telford, killing her, her 17-year-old sister and their mother.

    He was jailed for life in 2001 for their murders and for the attempted murder of her father, George.

    Her baby daughter, who was also inside at the time of the fire, was rescued.

    At the time, the crime was not linked to child sex exploitation and Mr Lowe said the authorities had failed to recognise something was wrong.

    Bendy buses will operate for the last time in Coventry today, after 15 years of service.

    Bus 6021 will operate on the number 4 service between Arena Park and University Hospital.

    Sam Houlders, garage manager for National Express Coventry said the buses had "served us very well in Coventry".

    "We've been withdrawing the fleet gradually over the last few weeks, this is the last one on the road today," he said.

    "Drivers here love them, they're a comfortable drive, and our customers love them too.

    "We'll have people lined up and down the service road, lining up to the garage, and we'll applaud it as it comes in".

    Coventry's half marathon, cancelled at the weekend due to freezing weather conditions, will not run this year, organisers said.

    "To re-schedule we would need to re-run stakeholder consultations, road closures, public notice periods and re-book specialist contractors and volunteers," said Coventry University Students Union.

    It's the first year the group has taken over organisation of the race.

    All entrants will be offered a full refund along with a discount on next year's race, and the chance to still donate race fees to charity.

    A five-year-old girl suffered burns to her head, neck and hands after her hair caught fire.

    It’s believed to have happened when a flammable hair product came into contact with a candle, said West Midlands Fire Service.

    Paramedics and eight firefighters were called to West Avenue, Tividale, on Monday evening.

    It is thought to have been an accident and there was no fire at the property, the fire service said.

    Former Stoke City defender Mike Pejic has given his backing to under-pressure manager Paul Lambert, while hitting out at Ramadan Sobhi and Xherdan Shaqiri.

    Pejic said the pair "should have shown more responsibility and should have shown more effort" in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Everton, adding they have "had their chance and blown it".
