    Schools in Worcestershire face a repair bill of £23m and in Herefordshire the cost is £7m.

    That's the equivalent of more than £150,000 for every maintained school.

    The Department for Education says it's providing local authorities and academy trusts with £1.4bn over the next financial year to maintain their buildings.

    This is part of a wider investment in the school estate of more than £10bn between 2016-2021.

    Stoke-on-Trent City Council could agree to write off £4.3m of debt, because it might not be recoverable.

    It says it can't reclaim the money from debtors for a number of reasons including death and bankruptcy.

    Nuneaton Town have confirmed their manager Dino Maamria has left to take over League Two Stevenage.

    He joined Boro in October and has taken them to 13th in the National League North.

    "The Nuneaton chairman was outstanding in the way he handled our interest," said Stevenage chariman Phil Wallace.

    "But he was desperately sad to see Dino leave after the difference he had made to their results."

    A disciplinary procedure against senior a senior counter terrorism officer is on hold subject to judicial review.

    Assistant Chief Constable Marcus Beale was found guilty of gross misconduct with recommendation of dismissal last month.

    Highly classified documents were stolen from his unmarked car in May of last year.

    The 54-year-old, who is due to retire in April, stands to lose a £215,000 pension lump sum if sacked.

    A campaigner for Cystic Fibrosis treatments has taken part in a demonstration outside the Houses of Parliament.

    They're calling for a new drug Orkambi to be made available on the NHS.

    The Orkambi drug helps to increase lung function but is deemed too expensive by the health advisory body NICE.

    Cavan Arrowsmith from Stourbridge said sufferers are "urgently in need of a better quality of life".

    "We need consistency and stability in our lives that Orkambi will give us," he said.

    Final checks are being made to one of the world's oldest operational fighter jets, as it prepares to leave the UK.

    The Gloster Meteor T7, based at Coventry airport, is going to a museum in Detroit.

    The aircraft was the first jet fighter used by the RAF and powered by engines designed by Sir Frank Whittle.

    Keep your eyes peeled at around midday when it will be leaving the city.

    There's calls for more transparency from Warwickshire County Council over delays and potential costs in opening Kenilworth railway station.

    It cost more than £13m to build and was supposed to be open in December.

    The Office for Rail Regulation says it's waiting for information from the council before they can approve the opening of the site.

    The investigation into Stanislaw Chrzanowski's alleged role in the Holocaust in World War Two sends out a clear message: Germany has unfinished business when it comes to prosecuting Nazi collaborators.

    The move has been made by a new generation of German prosecutors who are determined to make up for past failings to bring perpetrators to justice.

    The impact of this means we're likely to see more trials and I understand legal authorities in Germany have already started to look for possible new suspected Nazi collaborators in the UK following the Chrzanowski investigation, with immigration records being assessed.

    Herefordshire, Stoke-on-Trent and Solihull are among 13 areas that saw an increase in the proportion of road networks deemed poor from 2009 to 2017.

    Some 10% of the road network maintained by local authorities in Great Britain is in poor condition, or has been flagged for further inspection.

    About 37,000km (22,990 miles) across England, Wales and Scotland fell below top standard in surveys carried out on behalf of the Department for Transport, analysis by the BBC shared data unit showed.

    The RAC said the road network had suffered from years of underinvestment.

    The organisers of the postponed Stafford half marathon say they can't offer refunds to runners unable to make the re-arranged date.

    It was due to take place on Sunday, but had to be called off because of the bad weather and Freedom Leisure says 15 April is the only alternative date available.

    It is offering runners who can't make the revised date a transfer to either the Stafford 10K in September or next year’s Stafford half marathon.

    But it says it has taken the decision not to issue refunds because of the costs it has already incurred.

    House prices in the West Midlands have gone up by about a quarter in the last decade with the average property now costing £209,000.

    The most expensive area to buy in is Solihull and the cheapest is Sandwell according to figures from the National Housing Federation.

    The Midlands saw the fastest growth in house prices over the year to the end of November, official figures show.

    Property values grew by 7.2% in the West Midlands and 6.4% in the East Midlands, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

    Engineering giant GKN is continuing its battle to fend off a hostile takeover from turnaround firm Melrose.

    On Monday, Melrose confirmed it had offered to invest £1bn in GKN's pension fund. Now GKN has hit back, saying it already has a plan to protect the pension scheme.

    Redditch-based GKN's finance director Jos Sclater said in a statement that the company had "a clear and comprehensive plan".

    He added: "A month ago, Melrose appeared to suggest that its plan to pay £150m into the pension scheme was sufficient. Now it appears to have unveiled a £1bn plan that would achieve less than GKN's own agreement with the trustees, at a greater cash cost which would erode shareholder value. I think our shareholders deserve better."

    Hollywood director Steven Spielberg has been extolling the virtues of filming part of his latest film in Birmingham, praising the city and it's people.

    Speaking at last night's European premiere in London, the filmmaker said: "We had a really good time shooting in Birmingham and the people there were really wonderful."

    It's day two of the Peaky Pentathlon - BBC WM's Richie Anderson and weather presenter Rebecca Wood are walking 25 miles a day for five days along the canals of the West Midlands to raise money for BBC Sport Relief.
