    Shrewsbury Town's hope of a trophy win at Wembley vanished as they were beaten 1-0 by Lincoln City in the Checkatrade Trophy.

    Shrewsbury came close, Bryn Morris hitting the bar for them, but Elliot Whitehouse's close-range strike proved enough for the Imps to win.

    Town should also have had a penalty for a hand ball against Luke Waterfall, but for luckless Shrewsbury their fourth visit to Wembley again ended in defeat.

    A woman remains critically ill after being found stabbed at a church.

    Police said the victim, in her 30s, was stabbed in the abdomen at about 03:15 BST on Sunday and was found at St Margaret's Church in Coventry.

    Part of the church is still sealed off for forensic investigations.

    Three men have been arrested after a man died following what police called a disturbance at a pub., external

    It happened at the Dog and Pheasant in Worcester Road, Bromsgrove, on Saturday night.

    The 47-year-old victim was taken to hospital in a serious condition and died there.

    The three arrested men are aged between 25 and 52.
