    A former captain in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment will be buried with full military honours today after his remains were discovered a century after his death during World War One

    Henry John Innes Walker was a New Zealander fighting with the British Army when he came under enemy fire in West Flanders in Belgium.

    His great nephews and wider family attended a service of Remembrance at the Menin Gate.

    A team of archaeologists found Captain Walker's remains two years ago.

    Hereford FC have secured a third promotion in as many seasons.

    A Rob Purdie penalty was enough to secure a 1-0 win at Biggleswade Town last night and the three points needed to guarantee the Southern League Premier Division title.

    Promotion means Hereford will play in either Vanarama National League North or South next season - just two more promotions away from the Football League.

    Health inspectors have warned the trust that runs Russells Hall hospital in Dudley that its emergency services are inadequate.

    A report by the Care Quality Commission has found there was a "significant risk that life-threatening conditions would not be identified and treated as quickly as they should have been".

    The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust says it has put an improvement plan in place for the emergency department to ensure patient safety.

    Access to two main roads from a roundabout in Cheshire is going to be cut off for three months from tonight, external as work on a roundabout hits its second phase.

    The Crewe Green Roundabout is being overhauled at a cost of £7m in a bid to improve the flow of traffic, external through the junction.

    The link between the roundabout and Hungerford Road and Sydney Road will be closed until July.

    Cheshire East Council says there'll just be a single lane with traffic lights between the two roads.

    Five Lloyds banks in the West Midlands will close as part of a cost-cutting plan announced earlier this year.

    Overall, the lender will cut a further 305 jobs and shut a total of 49 branches.

    It follows the announcement of 930 job cuts in February.

    The five are Hednesford, Staffordshire; Brierley Hill, Dudley; Upton upon Severn, Worcestershire; Ledbury, Herefordshire; and Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire.

    A lorry driver who left a woman with life-changing injuries has been given a two-year suspended sentence and 300 hours of unpaid work at Truro Crown Court.

    Paul Ince, 47, of Leyland, Lancashire, was driving when a loose stability leg on his company's lorry pushed a van into the path of a partially sighted woman.

    Kay Kitto was crushed in between that vehicle and her own car outside her house in Falmouth in September 2016 and spent several months recovering in hospital.

    On a previous occasion Ince pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

    Last week Gavin Bentley, 40, director of Midlands Poling Services in Staffordshire, was fined £9,000 for causing or abetting dangerous driving.

    The firm's maintenance manager Paul O'Toole, 50, from Cannock, Staffordshire, was fined £2,000 for the same offence.

    Hospital bosses say they want to double the capacity of an A&E unit for the most seriously injured patients.

    Leighton Hospital in Crewe currently has 10 "majors cubicles" but the Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wants to increase that to up to 20.

    NHS figures show the hospital had 73,985 A&E admissions from March 2017 to February, compared to 68,053 for the year before.

    The trust says it'll now look for political and national financial support for the expansion work.

    Birmingham's £10.5m adult education budget is set to transfer to the West Midlands Combined Authority – prompting concerns it will add "another layer of bureaucracy".

    The move will affect how services for around 9,000 adult learners in Birmingham are delivered from April next year.

    The WMCA can then either "passport" the funding to the council or commission services through specific contracts, which has prompted concerns.

    A report which went to the cabinet today , externalstated there could be "financial implications" for the council if the combined authority decided to operate in that way.
