    A coroner has concluded a schoolboy would have survived if a blood test had been carried out before his death.

    Callum Cartlidge, eight, from Redditch, died after a cardiac arrest on 3 March 2017 - less than 24 hours after leaving Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

    During the inquest, Dr Ann Radcliffe said there was "a high chance" a blood test would have detected his illness.

    Recording a narrative verdict today, the Worcestershire coroner said not carrying out the test was a serious failing but not a gross failing, and he could not record a verdict of neglect.

    Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has been investigating the case.

    Boundary changes mean the total on the council is now 44 and all of them were up for grabs at this election.

    I've just spoken with now former Labour city councillor Andy Cartwright, external in Birmingham who's lost out to the Conservatives in Frankley.

    He was elected to the authority seven years ago after campaigning widely for ex-Rover workers.

    He's told me he believes the way Labour handled the bin strike did affect his vote.

    You may well remember,bin workers were on strike for months last yearin a dispute with the authority over their plans to "modernise" the service.

    It led to thousands of tonnes of rubbish being left piled up on the city's streets.

    Lib Dem and UKIP losses led to gains for the Conservatives, Labour and Greens in Solihull.

    The Tories held control of the council, winning the nine seats they defended plus one, while the Greens and Labour added one more seat each to their numbers.

    But the Lib Dems lost two of the three seats they were defending and UKIP lost the one seat they were fighting for in the election.

    They'll still need more to unsettle the Conservatives who had a majority of 11 going into these elections.

    That gain was the seventh declared of the 11 seats up for election this time.

    It's very early days here in Redditch but we've already seen a gain for the Conservatives from Labour, as they took the Abbey ward.

    Now, before these elections, Labour had a majority of just one so, if everything else stays the same, the council would move to no overall control.

    However, the Tories are “quietly confident” of taking council and one more net gain would do.
