    Police are investigating what they're calling an "unprovoked attack" in Middlewich, involving a group of more than 10 people.

    A 21-year-old woman was hit in the face and a 25-year-old man was kicked and punched several times, as they walked towards Wallcroft Gardens off Wheelock Street, Staffordshire Police said.

    The group were said to be dressed in black, with scarves over their faces.

    The woman was treated at hospital for minor injuries and the man suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

    More than 240 children have been locked overnight in police cells in the West Midlands force area in the past 12 months, new figures have revealed.

    The force's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) revealed the statistics at a board meeting and said they were because of a lack of suitable alternative accommodation.

    Under legislation, custody officers are told to transfer young people remanded in custody into local authority accommodation.

    But PCC David Jamieson says there's no secure accommodation for children in the West MIdlands and he'll be raising the issue with local councils.

    Plans for 40 holiday lodges at Langdale woods in Worcestershire go back before councillors again tonight.

    It comes after an application to build 50 on land owned by the Three Counties Agricultural Society was rejected by Malvern Hills District Council three months ago.

    Campaigners have gathered outside the building to protest against the application for planning permission.

    A woman's had to be freed from a shower by firefighters after falling over, external and getting "trapped".

    Firefighters took the cubicle apart on Brown Avenue, in Nantwich, this morning.

    They then say paramedics treated her, although they haven't revealed what injuries she suffered.

    A number of post offices in Coventry and Warwickshire are currently experiencing problems because of a computer fault.

    The main post office in Kenilworth is currently down, along with those in Leamington and Warwick.

    A Porsche has been stolen from a car dealership , externalafter the thieves first used one of the other cars to ram the garage's front gate to get out.

    Police say it was taken early on Monday morning from the site on The Hill, Newcastle Road, Sandbach.

    The Porsche was later found abandoned in Hale, Altrincham later the same day.

    CCTV images have been released of two men police, external say they want to speak to in connection with a "brutal, unprovoked" stabbing of an American in Birmingham.

    The attack happened at Roj Roj Fish and Chips on Smallbrook Queensway on 17 May.

    Police say the 20-year-old victim was on a visit to the UK and on a night out when he was repeatedly stabbed and is still being treated in hospital.

    Officers say they believe he tried to stop an argument that had broken out in the takeaway just before he was attacked.

    Jaguar Land Rover has reported a drop in profits after slower sales growth and rising business investment.

    Annual pre-tax profits fell to £1.5bn from £1.6bn the year before, and fourth quarter profits almost halved from £676m to £364m.

    Annual sales grew 1.7%, helped by strong demand in China.

    But the Coventry-based firm blamed a sharp fall in UK sales on "consumer uncertainty surrounding diesel models, Brexit and vehicle taxation".

    UK sales dropped 12.8% to 108,759 cars, while European sales also fell.

    The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) has drawn up proposals for 644 bays at the current plot at Longbridge, accessed from Devon Way, which has 102 spaces at the moment.

    They're free to use at the moment, but the WMCA's planning application to the city council says a daily charge will be brought in for the new five-level facility.

    The contract to run Welsh trains for the next 15 years has been awarded to two European firms, France's Keolis and Spanish-owned Amey.

    Arriva Trains Wales, which has run the service since 2003, announced it was dropping out of the bidding race in December.

    Full details of its plans for the routes, which include services in and out of the West Midlands, will not be revealed until next month, to allow for the potential challenge to the process by the other bidder.

    The new franchise will come into effect from 14 October but all 2,200 staff will be able to transfer and terms and conditions will be protected.

    A library in Stoke-on-Trent could be turned into housing in the future.

    The city council says there are plans to move the library in Tunstall into the town hall, external, after £3.8m of restoration works.

    The authority's also planning to move its children and customer services there too.
