    Goalkeeper Dean Henderson from Manchester United has been a big part of the team's unexpected success this season, along with Carlton Morris and Ben Godfrey from Norwich.

    Henderson said when he came to the club his aim was to play as many games as he could, but their third-place finish this season was a "fantastic achievement" and he really believes they can win promotion at Wembley.

    The government didn't appear to be aware of construction giant Carillion's financial troubles until six months before its collapse, external, a committee of MPs has said today.

    Risk assessments carried out by the government into the Wolverhampton-based firm have been published today by the Public Accounts Committee.

    The assessments are carried out on a Red-Amber-Green scale.

    Carillion collapsed under a £1.5bn debt pile in January. It employed 43,000 people, about 20,000 of them in the UK, thousands of whom have lost their jobs.

    The MPs say Carillion was given a risk rating of amber for months but wasn't downgraded to red by the government until after it issued a profit warning in July.

    A man in a car has been attacked with a hammer in Birmingham in front of his baby girl, external. in what police are treating as an attempted carjacking.

    Police say the 22-year-old was on School Road, Yardley Wood, on Friday night when two men tapped on the car's window, wanting him to open the door.

    He refused and one of them smashed the window, opened the door and then hit him around the head, before he shouted that his nine-month-old girl was in the car.

    The force says the attackers then fled, leaving the victim needing hospital treatment. He was later discharged after being treated for bruising and a head injury.

  6. New emergency vehicle aims to speed up treatmentspublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 23 May 2018

    A new critical care vehicle will be on the road in Birmingham from next week with the aim of getting faster treatment for people badly hurt in incidents.

    Staffed by paramedics from the Midlands Air Ambulance, they will be able to use specialist skills to deal with critically ill and injured patients at the scene rather than waiting to get them to hospital.

    The vehicle is being brought to make it faster to treat patients who live in built up areas and are suffering from medical issues like heart attacks or strokes.

    The team is already booked to make three week-long visits to the town between now and July and says 25 people have booked sessions so far.

    A train driver had to lie down on railway tracks to avoid being hit by another train and was about "three seconds" away being hit by another train, according to an official accident report.

    It says the driver had stopped to check a fault with his train’s brakes just north of Stafford station and was outside the carriages.

    A fast train then came past at about 85 mph (137 km/h) and he had to get down on the floor to avoid being hit.

    The RAIB says the driver was left "shaken" by the near miss and the incident's being blamed on a mistake by signal staff.

    Worcestershire's former director of cricket, who was sacked after an investigation into his conduct last year, has been named as a scout for England.

    Steve Rhodes, along with former England players Marcus Trescothick, James Taylor, Chris Read, Glen Chapple, and Richard Dawson will report to new national selector Ed Smith.

    The scouts will compile reports on potential England players and report to Smith, head coach Trevor Bayliss and a full-time England selector.

    Rhodes, who has 11 England Test caps and made nine ODI appearances, spent 33 years as a player and coach at Worcestershire before being sacked.

    A former head teacher who admitted covertly filming students in the school changing rooms has been jailed for four years and four months at Stafford Crown Court.

    Timothy Moule, 47, from Cressage in Shropshire, had also admitted making indecent images of children.

    The Crown Prosecution Service said he was reported to the police after a concerned parent had found social media messages from him to her son.

    Jeanette Bryant, from the CPS, said Moule had chosen to "ignore" child protection policies and abused "his position of trust" by filming pupils.

    Coventry City have now sold more than 32,000 tickets for their League Two play-off final match against Exeter on Monday.

    The club says it's still possible to get one, but from now on you will have to buy an e-ticket and print it out yourself.

    Jean Smith, 80, told BBC WM she was devastated when she thought she was going to miss the event after falling and breaking her ankle.
