    A man's been arrested on suspicion of murder , externalafter a shooting in Birmingham.

    Police say the 23-year-old was detained as he tried to board a ferry in Dover overnight.

    As we reported earlier, a man in his 20s died after being found with gunshot wounds in a car on Maxwell Avenue, Handsworth, shortly before 17:00.

    Officers also arrested a 23-year-old woman on suspicion of assisting an offender.

    Stoke City say they're "delighted" to have appointed Derby boss Gary Rowett as their new manager.

    Rowett, 44, replaces Paul Lambert who left the Potters following their relegation from the Premier League.

    Rowett, who has signed a three-year deal, was linked with Stoke in January, but signed a new contract at Derby after the Potters appointed Lambert.

    A man in his 20s has died after being found with gunshot wounds in Birmingham.

    He was discovered in a car on Maxwell Avenue, Handsworth, shortly before 17:00 and died at the scene.

    West Midlands Police has launched a murder investigation, external.

    The area remains sealed off while forensic examinations take place and officers speak to witnesses. The force is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

    Coventry City Council says it'll continue enforcing the controversial parking restrictions in the city centre, despite criticism from an independent tribunal.

    The Traffic Penalty Tribunal, external said the high number of penalty notices handed out in restricted parking zones proved they were confusing and compared the local authority to the stubborn King Canute.

    But the city council says its latest legal advice is that the restrictions are enforceable, subject to adequate signage.

    A major re-signalling project means replacement buses will run between Birmingham New Street and Coventry from Saturday 26 May until Monday 28 May inclusive - for Virgin and West Midlands Railway services.

    On Saturday 26 May, no trains will run between Birmingham and Lichfield, and Wolverhampton to Walsall services will start from Birmingham New Street.

    Extra carriages have been added to Chiltern Railways services, and Coventry City fans travelling to Wembley on Monday are being advised to travel from Warwick Parkway station.

    Councillors in Telford is meeting tonight to consider the aims and scope of an inquiry into child sexual exploitation.

    The decision to hold the independent investigation was made on 10 April, following fresh claims about the scale of the problem, made in the Sunday Mirror.

    The local authority has set aside an initial £350,000 to pay for the inquiry and says one of the issues will be how to appoint a suitable independent chair.

    The "horrendous" condition of six domestic rabbits found dumped in woodland has left an RSPCA officer "furious".

    The pets were found in Doe Bank Park in Great Barr on Monday and were all underweight and covered in sores and open wounds, the animal charity said.

    One of the rabbits also had severely overgrown teeth.

    “I’m furious that someone could be so cruel as to allow these rabbits to get into such a shocking condition and then dump them in a park to fend for themselves," said collection officer Cara Gibbon.
