    A large tree that's fallen on St Michael's Street, Shrewsbury, has been getting in the way of traffic travelling in and out of the town centre.

    The fire service said it fell on to a car, but the occupants were able to get out of the vehicle before crews arrived.

    Monster trucks will be one of the big attractions at the Shropshire County Agricultural Show , externalin Shrewsbury tomorrow.

    This will be the third time Michael Murty from York has brought his vehicles to the annual event, and he says they'll be jumping them over cars and using them to rip other vehicles in half.

    An elderly man's been threatened in his own home with garden shears, external in a "terrifying" burglary.

    The victim went into his home on Vicarage Lane, Audlem, Cheshire, yesterday afternoon to, be confronted by three men, police say.

    They had smashed their way in through a window and demanded keys to a safe which the man didn't have.

    Two more men then came in and officers say they then fled, carrying the safe with them.

    Work to raise a road to try and stop it getting flooded in the future has been put on pause until a series of summer festivals are over.

    Worcestershire County Council is working to increase the height of part of the A4104 in Upton-upon-Severn by up to 0.8m (2.5ft) between the A38 and the Marina. , external

    The authority says it's after the town was badly hit by flooding in 2007 and 2014.

    Work started earlier on this year, but today the council says it's finished until 3 September so it doesn't disrupt , externalthe town's festivals this summer and shows in Malvern.

    The build-up to Coventry's Biggest Weekend festival has included a 10-day outreach fringe programme in and around the city, involving performances from local musicians and talks by Sarah Cox and Jeremy Vine.

    Officers say they found the wood was tied on to the rear axles with wire.

    Police say they were called early this morning to reports that something had happened outside the Bridge Inn, Shropshire Street, Audlem in Cheshire.

    Officers say they don't yet know how the 45-year-old suffered his injuries, saying it could have been an assault or a road crash.

    The NHS trust funding Worcestershire's main hospitals overspent its budget last year by £4.8m due to an increase in admissions.

    In a report, the county's clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) say they budgeted £265.8m for the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, but they ended up paying out £270.6m.

    The hospital trust runs the Worcestershire Royal, Kidderminster Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

    In their latest board meeting, the CCGs heard admissions to A&Es cost £18.3m last year, £84,000 more than budgeted.

    Officers searching a field for the body of a man almost a decade after his death, say "nothing of significance" has been recovered.

    Jesse Richards, 40, died in Evesham, Worcestershire, in July 2009, but his remains have never been found despite police offering a £10,000 reward.

    Warwickshire Police officers searched farm land in Corley after suspecting his body was dumped somewhere in the county.

    The search has now been concluded, the force said, however there will still be police activity at the site over the next few days to return the site to its original state.
