    We've seen some stories recently of ducklings stuck in drains, badgers stuck down holes and squirrels trapped in bird feeders - so it's good to show some happy animals.

    This swan and its cygnets were filmed at Wolseley in Staffordshire by the county's wildlife trust, outside their headquarters.

  6. Snack cocaine: Police dog finds drugs in cheddars tubepublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Cooper the police dog has earned some extra treats tonight - after sniffing out cocaine worth £2,500 hidden inside a tube of Mini Cheddars.

    Staffordshire Police says the discovery was made during a search of a kitchen at a house in Longton.

  7. Children's toy starts house firepublished at 18:36 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    A children's electrical toy has started a house fire in Crewe, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has said.

    They were called out just before 15:00 and found the kitchen at the property in Smith Grove was alight - a hoverboard plugged in to a charger has been blamed.

    It took around an hour to extinguish and a 72-year-old woman was treated by paramedics at the scene as a precautionary measure.

  10. Boy arrested near school with Samurai swordpublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in Telford for carrying a Samurai sword in the street.

    West Mercia Police say they were called to Brunel Road in Malinslee at around 15:00 and children at a nearby school were kept inside while they dealt with the incident.

    The sword is believed to have been in a sheath. The boy was arrested as a precaution and nobody was hurt, the force said.

    Port Vale have announced they've signed striker Louis Dodds from Chesterfield on a season-long loan.

    The 31-year-old spent eight years with the Valiants making more than 200 appearances and scoring 56 goals.

    He left to join Shrewsbury on a free transfer in 2016 and Captain Tom Pope said he would be a "valuable asset to the squad".

    A homeless Romanian man has admitted stealing cash and electronic goods from 11 churches.

    Mahaita Rosca, 26, from Shrewsbury, started his crime spree in Weymouth before moving to Devon, where he lived rough and survived by breaking into churches all around the county.

    He targeted money but also stole projectors, DVD players, and computers from churches in Exeter, Crediton, Torrington, Tavistock, Newton Abbot, Teignmouth, Exmouth and Sidmouth.

    Rosca sold some of the stolen items but hid others, promising to help police to find them when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.

    Judge Timothy Rose adjourned the case until 20 July to allow time for him to help police recover the missing church property - but added that a prison sentence was "certain".

    The total restoration of a Spitfire from a museum is well under way, a council says, ahead of its return to a new home.

    The plane was removed earlier this year from where it was located at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent.

    It's now being restored by the Medway Aircraft Preservation Society in Kent and the work's expected to take two years.

    Today, Stoke-on-Trent City Council said the revamp was, external "moving ahead" with the Spitfire's engine nearly fully restored.

    Oswestry's The New Saints will be playing their Champions League qualifier against KF Shkëndija at the Macedonian national football stadium.

    The 33,000-capacity Phillip II Arena is in Skopje and hosted the 2017 Super Cup between Manchester United and Real Madrid.

    The organisers of the Women's Tour cycling event say they're talking to local authorities in Worcestershire, with the aim of bringing more races to the county.

    Race director Mick Bennett also praised the route, saying: "Not only does Worcestershire provide a scenic backdrop for our events, but we know the area has a strong and enthusiastic cycling community."

    Councillor Adrian Gregson, the leader of Worcester City Council, was also pleased with the race, saying it "looked great" and would "encourage people to visit our beautiful city".

    Diamond Bus has told an inquiry led by the Traffic Commissioner for the West Midlands that the routes they run are very challenging and can explain their reliability problems.

    The hearing was told 15% of services either leave more than one minute early, turn up more than five minutes late, or don't turn up at all.

    The company has also responded to concerns about the roadworthiness of its vehicles, saying that issues like punctures aren't necessarily caused by poor maintenance.

    Traffic Commissioner now has 28 days to deliver a judgement.

    He could decide to suspend or revoke Diamond's licence, or reduce their routes, or do nothing.
