    A collection of spy cameras used in the Cold War by Soviet spies are to go up for auction in Dudley.

    Photographic consultant Tim Goldsmith of Aston's Auctioneers, said it was one of the "biggest" collections he had seen.

    The Russian collection auction features cameras built into umbrellas, cigarette cases and even a ladies clutch bag.

    Cheaper fares and new tickets are being promised as the Midland Metro tram service is taken over by the West Midlands Combined Authority.

    West Midlands Mayor Andy Street said bringing it "in-house" would see a 10% reduction on some ticket prices and was "great news for passengers".

    Previously operated by National Express, it will now be run by Midland Metro Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the combined authority.

    A new phone app is also planned as a way to pay for tickets.

    Shropshire Council says a decision hasn't yet been made on changes to parking charges in the county.

    The changes in Shrewsbury were due to come in next month, but the plans are now being reviewed again.

    It could mean the proposed £2.50 per hour for on-street parking in Shrewsbury could be reduced and plans to charge after 18:00 in the town's Frankwell car park are still being looked at.

    A man is due to appear in court today charged with murder after a stabbing during a row at a newsagent's.

    Daniel Fitzjohn, 34, died in hospital following an attack in the Kingsley area of Northampton at about 21:45 last Thursday.

    Daniel Quinn, from Wolverhampton has been charged with his murder.

    The 27-year-old will appear at Northampton Magistrates' Court today.

    A garden that commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Empire Windrush bringing the first Caribbean migrants to Britain is set to be officially opened in Birmingham.

    The garden won gold at last month's Chelsea Flower Show and it's now been set up in Victoria Square in Birmingham city centre.

    It will be officially opened by TV presenter and campaigner Baroness Floella Benjamin who helped create the garden along with the city council.

  10. Council calls for taxi go-slow protest to be called offpublished at 07:12 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    The City of Wolverhampton Council is calling on private hire drivers to call off a one-day go-slow protest planned for later this month.

    The drivers are angry at the number of licences being issued in the city - more than 8,000 in the last three years.

    The drivers say they want tougher tests for applicants to check their knowledge of the law and of Wolverhampton's streets.

    They also want to be allowed to work for multiple operators.

    The council said it had had a constructive meeting with the drivers, and would look into their concerns.
