Congestion on one of the key routes through Solihull is likely to be made worse by major new developments in the area, a council report has admitted.
Solihull Council has submitted a funding bid for £1.59m, which would be used to look at ways to tackle traffic problems along the A452 Chester Road.
Concerns about queueing came to a head last year, when Chelmsley Wood resident Fran Rickard told councillors that the disruption had got so bad that some people who worked nearby were quitting their jobs because they could not face the delays.
The borough council is now looking to secure funds from West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) in order to deal with the problems.

Hundreds of enthusiasts are expected to come dressed in costume for the event, which is organised by John Naylor, the man who puts on the UK's biggest Steampunk festival - Asylum in Lincolnshire.
Steampunk is a branch of science fiction which imagines a Victorian world with advanced steam-powered technology and there will be talks on the origins of the genre at the Blists Hill festival.
The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust says there will also be trade stalls, exhibitions and demonstrations.
