    A music festival in memory of the Led Zepplin drummer John Bonham will take place in Redditch this autumn.

    The event, called John Bonham - A Celebration, will take place on Saturday 22 September and 1,000 tickets will go on sale next Friday.

    Bonham, who came from Redditch, died in 1980, aged 32.

    A mental health trust that reported 13 of its patients probably died due to failings in care has said none of the deaths were caused by staff errors.

    Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust exonerated its clinicians after the deaths came to light in a Quality Account report published by the trust this week, external.

    The defence of its doctors and nurses came in a statement released after it was reported that of 37 patient deaths investigated by the trust, 13 were "assessed as to be more likely than not to have been due to problems in the care provided to the patient".

    "None of these cases were found to be due to acts/omissions of care by individual members of staff and therefore, we can confirm that no disciplinary action has been taken as a result."

    News that a supermarket in Birmingham is among a small number of stores in the UK that is single-use plastic free has got you talking on Facebook.

    On the BBC Midlands Facebook page, Gill Owens posted, external: "Scoop and save - we had years ago, items were in large drums and you scooped out into bags! Was cheap too! Why not bring these shops back?"

    Walter Eckland added, external: "The main supermarkets package almost everything, but what really gets my goat is when the packets are barely half full. Pure waste just to make the shopper think they are getting more."

    And Mary Hughes posted, external: "Never had bags as a child, always took our own. Even took container for milk and went to off-licence with jug for beer."

    Fire crews are still dealing with a stable fire in the Staffordshire Moorlands, nearly three hours after it started.

    They were called to the farm on Leek Road in Wetley Rocks at 09:20.

    Nobody is reported to be injured.

    A Telford-based company which provides residential schools catering for children with learning difficulties says it will create more than 150 new jobs in Shropshire at two new schools.

    Bryn Melyn Care is opening a new school on the outskirts of Ludlow and another on the Derwen College site in Gobowen.

    The company offers residential placements to children aged 10-18 and recently opened a new home near Shrewsbury with another due to open in Telford this summer.

    Birmingham's Lord Mayor said the Windrush garden, now on display in Victoria Square, is "symbolic" of the people of Birmingham, and of the people who came on the Empire Windrush ship, 70 years ago.

    A thanksgiving service is being held later to commemorate the arrival, 70 years ago today, of the first Caribbean migrants on the Empire Windrush and those that followed.

    The garden, designed by Floella Benjamin along with Birmingham City Council, won a gold award at Chelsea Flower Show.

    Councillor Yvonne Mosquito said: "The vibrancy of the display reflects the diversity of Birmingham and shows the strength and creativity of the city".

    Tom Kirwan, 23, died in July 2012 after an altercation between a large group of people outside the former Uberra nightclub in Wolverhampton.

    No-one has been charged over the Wolverhampton man's death.

    Appearing on BBC One's Crimewatch Roadshow this morning,Tom's mother Emer Kirwan said she didn't understand why people who had witnessed the fight had still not come forward.

    "It was a brutal and senseless attack that took my son from me, and destroyed me," she said.

    Birmingham has been named as the second fastest growing city centre, with the population increasing by 163% (9,800 to 25,800 people) between 2002 and 2015, according to new data.

    The number of 20 to 29-year-olds in the centre of large cities (those with 550,000 people or more) tripled in the first decade of the 21st Century, to a point where they made up half of the population.

    A former election candidate from Staffordshire, who was yesterday found guilty of stirring up racial hatred, has been warned by a judge she faces going to jail when she is sentenced next month.

    Barbara Fielding-Morriss, 79, admitted admiring Adolf Hitler and comparing Jews to termites - she was convicted on three counts at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

    She represented herself during the trial and was due to be sentenced today. However, the judge given her unconditional bail until 20 July to allow her to seek legal representation.

    She was acquitted of one count of stirring up racial hatred.

    A teenager has been crowned the Royal Horticultural Society's Young Gardener of the Year.

    Ellie Micklewright, who is 15 and goes to Newport Girls’ High School in Shropshire started her school’s gardening club from scratch, bringing together an army of 40 students and staff to transform the school grounds.

    More than half of the trade wholesalers on Birmingham Road, West Bromwich, was damaged by smoke and fire.

    The fire service said investigations were ongoing into the cause and it was helping employees deal with smoke damage.
